OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G May Not Get The Processor Upgrade Users Are Expecting

0

OnePlus has announced that it will be launching the Nord CE 4 Lite 5G in India on June 24 at 7 PM IST and it has even confirmed a couple of key specifications. What it hasn’t confirmed is the processor in use and leaks suggest that OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G may not get the expected processor upgrade from its predecessor.

According to a leak by tipster Paras Guglani on X, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G will pack the Snapdragon 695 processor, which is identical to what the Nord CE 3 Lite 5G got last year. The Snapdragon 695 first debuted back in October 2021, based on a 6nm node. While the hasn’t been a disappointment for regular workflows, it is quite old at this point. In fact, Qualcomm recently launched the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 which is a slightly refined version of the Snapdragon 695.

However, OnePlus still chose to opt for a chipset that is nearly 2.5 years old. Fortunately, the brand does plan to introduce some other upgrades over OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, and it has confirmed that the Nord CE 4 Lite will pack a 5500mAh battery with reverse charging support. Further, it’ll have a Sony LYT-600 primary camera sensor which will support Optical Image Stabilisation.

The handset is further expected it to get a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz and a peak brightness of 2100 nits. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor could be replaced with an under-display optical fingerprint sensor. As the device could be a rebranded OPPO K12x, it could also boast of faster 80W fast wired charging over the 67W speed on the Nord CE 4 Lite’s predecessor.

The device can be seen having a blue coloured back panel with a dual-camera setup, paired with dual-LED units. The OnePlue branding lies in the middle, while the handset will have a flat frame. The volume and power buttons will reside on the right spine as usual, with a USB-C port, a mic and a speaker grille at the bottom.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Charging Case Revealed in Latest Leak

0

Samsung’s July 10 Galaxy Unpacked event is almost confirmed and the Galaxy Ring is expected to be one of the products to debut on the date. A new leak has shown off the design of the charging case for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Ring and it resembles a design we have been seeing for years with charging cases of earbuds.

The leak comes from tipster IceUniverse on Weibo as per whom, Samsung will be using a dedicated case for the charging of the Galaxy Ring. Until now, it was unclear what method Samsung would use for the charging of the ring, which may have included a magnetic charging puck or another attachment with a cable on one end.

Galaxy ring charger

With a charging case, it would be easier for users to carry around the ring when it’s charging instead of finding wall outlets or carry another power bank to juice it back up, given the case has a battery of its own. If not, you’d still require a power outlet to charge the ring via the case. The charging case of the ring can further be seen having a raised section around which the ring would sit. This would make it easier for the users to place the ring in the case without any fiddling.

The Samsung logo is seen embedded on the front of the case, with another ring-shaped structure on the top side of it. In an interview earlier this year, Samsung confirmed that the Ring would easily last 5 to 9 days on a single charge which means you wouldn’t need a charger often, unlike earbuds which require frequent charges after each session.

The Galaxy Ring is expected to go on sale sometime in August later this year, according to a recent confirmation from the brand itself. Another leak from back in May suggested the Ring would have a price tag of Rs 35,000 in India. In the US, its price range is expected to be between $300 and $350 which converts to approximately Rs 25,000 and Rs 29,100, respectively.

Nothing OS 3.0 Coming In September, Lock Screen Customisation Confirmed

0

Nothing recently confirmed that it will be introducing a redesigned Quick Settings panel with Nothing OS 3.0 and now, Nothing CEO has revealed some more features coming with the next major Nothing OS update , such as lock screen customisation, along with its release timeline.

Carl Pei, CEO at Nothing, posted a couple of screenshots on X which showcased the upcoming features of Nothing OS 3.0, similar to what he did when he revealed the new Quick Settings panel. This time, he confirms that Nothing OS 3.0 will bring lock screen customisation, similar to what we have in iOS, One UI, stock Android, and more skins from other OEMs.

Nothing OS 3.0 Lock screen customisation

His screenshots also revealed a few clock fonts on the lock screen, such as Nothing’s signature dotted font, a new default clock font, and even an analogue clock style. Furthermore, the screenshots suggest that Nothing OS 3.0 will offer an expanded widget area which should allow for better placement of widgets compared to the current implementation.

One can also notice a shortcuts tab that may allow users to place some shortcuts on the lock screen itself. Or, it could simply be an option to change the lock screen shortcuts on either of the bottom corners of the lock screen, a feature that’s already available to Nothing OS users.

Finally, Pei also revealed that Nothing OS 3.0 will be announced in September later this year.

Earlier in May, Nothing confirmed that a new Quick Settings shade is coming with the upcoming Nothing OS 3 update which’ll have circular tiles placed similar to how widgets and icons are placed on the Nothing OS home screen. A new slider for ring, vibrate, and silent options will also be available.

Then earlier this month, the brand confirmed that it’s next flagship, the Nothing Phone (3) will come in 2025 and not this year. It will also be packing a new set of AI features. However, Nothing’s sub-brand CMF is gearing up to debut its first smartphone, the CMF Phone 1, soon.

MLow Audio Codec: All Details

Furthermore, audio and video calls on WhatsApp will support the new MLow codec which improves call reliability. Calls made on mobile devices benefit from improved noise and echo cancellation, making it easier to have calls in noisy environments, and video calls have higher for those with faster connections. Audio is crisper overall, even if you have poor network connectivity or are using an older device, according to WhatsApp.

The Meta Low Bitrate audio codec, aka MLow, achieves two-times-better quality than Opus (POLQA MOS 1.89 vs 3.9 @ 6kbps WB). Meta says the enahnced quality was achieved while keeping MLow’s computational complexity 10 percent lower than that of Opus.
