HMD is Working on a Tablet With Nokia Lumia Inspired Design: All Details

0

HMD is already known to be working on smartphones with a Nokia Lumia-like Fabula design, number of which have already leaked before. However, the brand is now rumoured to incorporate the same Fabula design in one of its upcoming tablets too, dubbed HMD Slate Tab 5G. Here’s what the HMD Tablet could look like and what the device could sport under the hood.

HMD Slate Tab 5G: Leaked Design, Specs

According to a leak by HMD_MEME’S on X, the Slate Tab 5G from HMD will be available in an orange shade and will have the Nokia Lumia inspired Fabula design. From the looks of it, the device may sport a vegan leather finish along with a single rear camera, an LED flash, along with the logo next to the branding.

Coming to the specs, the HMD tablet is rumoured to feature a 10.6-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, a 90Hz refresh rate, along with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It could be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor under the hood, paired with 8GB of and 128GB of 2.2 storage which will support expansion as well.

Then, it could draw power from a 9250mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging. The device will run on Android 14 with connectivity options including 5G, 6E, v5.2, NFC, a USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. It could also get dual stereo speakers, connector for additional accessories and PEN support as well.

Aside from this, other details regarding the tablet like its availability or pricing are unknown as of now. The HMD Ridge Pro and Skyline Business Edition smartphones were leaked last week. The same user also posted the complete portfolio of HMD’s upcoming smartphones a while back. It includes HMD AuraPulsePulse+Pulse Pro and Arrow under the budget segment of devices. HMD Ridge and HMD Waylay will be budget 5G handsets while HMD Xenon and HMD Skyline will be higher mid-range 5G handsets. A couple of US-exclusive handsets are also there, including the HMD Vibe and the HMD Atlas.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Charging Case Revealed in Latest Leak

0

Samsung’s July 10 Galaxy Unpacked event is almost confirmed and the Galaxy Ring is expected to be one of the products to debut on the date. A new leak has shown off the design of the charging case for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Ring and it resembles a design we have been seeing for years with charging cases of earbuds.

The leak comes from tipster IceUniverse on Weibo as per whom, Samsung will be using a dedicated case for the charging of the Galaxy Ring. Until now, it was unclear what method Samsung would use for the charging of the ring, which may have included a magnetic charging puck or another attachment with a cable on one end.

Galaxy ring charger

With a charging case, it would be easier for users to carry around the ring when it’s charging instead of finding wall outlets or carry another power bank to juice it back up, given the case has a battery of its own. If not, you’d still require a power outlet to charge the ring via the case. The charging case of the ring can further be seen having a raised section around which the ring would sit. This would make it easier for the users to place the ring in the case without any fiddling.

The Samsung logo is seen embedded on the front of the case, with another ring-shaped structure on the top side of it. In an interview earlier this year, Samsung confirmed that the Ring would easily last 5 to 9 days on a single charge which means you wouldn’t need a charger often, unlike earbuds which require frequent charges after each session.

The Galaxy Ring is expected to go on sale sometime in August later this year, according to a recent confirmation from the brand itself. Another leak from back in May suggested the Ring would have a price tag of Rs 35,000 in India. In the US, its price range is expected to be between $300 and $350 which converts to approximately Rs 25,000 and Rs 29,100, respectively.

Nothing OS 3.0 Coming In September, Lock Screen Customisation Confirmed

0

Nothing recently confirmed that it will be introducing a redesigned Quick Settings panel with Nothing OS 3.0 and now, Nothing CEO has revealed some more features coming with the next major Nothing OS update , such as lock screen customisation, along with its release timeline.

Carl Pei, CEO at Nothing, posted a couple of screenshots on X which showcased the upcoming features of Nothing OS 3.0, similar to what he did when he revealed the new Quick Settings panel. This time, he confirms that Nothing OS 3.0 will bring lock screen customisation, similar to what we have in iOS, One UI, stock Android, and more skins from other OEMs.

Nothing OS 3.0 Lock screen customisation

His screenshots also revealed a few clock fonts on the lock screen, such as Nothing’s signature dotted font, a new default clock font, and even an analogue clock style. Furthermore, the screenshots suggest that Nothing OS 3.0 will offer an expanded widget area which should allow for better placement of widgets compared to the current implementation.

One can also notice a shortcuts tab that may allow users to place some shortcuts on the lock screen itself. Or, it could simply be an option to change the lock screen shortcuts on either of the bottom corners of the lock screen, a feature that’s already available to Nothing OS users.

Finally, Pei also revealed that Nothing OS 3.0 will be announced in September later this year.

Earlier in May, Nothing confirmed that a new Quick Settings shade is coming with the upcoming Nothing OS 3 update which’ll have circular tiles placed similar to how widgets and icons are placed on the Nothing OS home screen. A new slider for ring, vibrate, and silent options will also be available.

Then earlier this month, the brand confirmed that it’s next flagship, the Nothing Phone (3) will come in 2025 and not this year. It will also be packing a new set of AI features. However, Nothing’s sub-brand CMF is gearing up to debut its first smartphone, the CMF Phone 1, soon.

Yahoo News is being revamped from ground up with new AI-powered features from Artifact. Yahoo acquired Artifact a couple of months back and is making the most out of the deal by incorporating the company’s AI-powered personalisation technology within its own News app. Here’s what has changed and has been introduced in the new AI-powered Yahoo News app.

”Launching today, the Yahoo News will give people a more personalized experience to stay informed on what matters most to them. More intuitive than ever, the experience is tailored for each user to help them make sense of the daily news and cut through the clutter,” said the company in a blog post.

Yahoo News offers both original reporting and aggregated content from over a thousand premium publishers, giving readers free access to the latest news, covering everything from breaking, national and local news, to entertainment, lifestyle and more, claims the company.

As for the Artifact deal, Yahoo acquired the AI-driven news aggregation and discovery platform in April 2024 for an undisclosed amount. “The AI-powered personalisation technology and other features has been integral in the development of this differentiated mobile app that gives people opportunities to catch-up-quick or dive deeper, all while seeing more of what matters and is useful to them, all in one place,” says Yahoo.

MLow Audio Codec: All Details

Furthermore, audio and video calls on WhatsApp will support the new MLow codec which improves call reliability. Calls made on mobile devices benefit from improved noise and echo cancellation, making it easier to have calls in noisy environments, and video calls have higher for those with faster connections. Audio is crisper overall, even if you have poor network connectivity or are using an older device, according to WhatsApp.

The Meta Low Bitrate audio codec, aka MLow, achieves two-times-better quality than Opus (POLQA MOS 1.89 vs 3.9 @ 6kbps WB). Meta says the enahnced quality was achieved while keeping MLow’s computational complexity 10 percent lower than that of Opus. The audio samples shared by the company on its website support its statements, as the MLow samples sound considerably clearer than Opus ones.

Meta notes that it has fully launched MLow to all Instagram and Messenger calls and are actively rolling it out on WhatsApp. The company adds that MLow has significantly enhanced audio quality on low-end devices while still ensuring calls are end-to-end encrypted.

Pixel Recorder App Gets A New ‘Record’ Shortcut: How To Use?

0

Google handsets received the June feature drop update a couple of days back which also brought Gemini Nano to Pixel 8 and 8a. In addition, it seems like the updates that were pushed for the Pixel Recorder have added a nee ‘Record’ shortcut using which one can conveniently begin recording right from their home screen.

As spotted by 9to5Google, long-pressing on Recorder app icon reveals a new “Record” shortcut (a red circle on white background). Tapping on the shortcut instantly starts a recording. The publication notes that the functionality of the new Record shortcut in the Pixel Recorder app is similar to that of the QS (Quick Settings) Tile. One can also tap and hold on the shortcut to then drag and place it anywhere on the home screen so they can skip tapping and holding on the Recorder icon every time they want to access the shortcut.

It also gets Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front along with what Oppo claims is a damage-proof 360-degree armour body. Here are all the details about the device.

OPPO F27 Pro+: Price, Availability

Oppo F27 pro+ shades

OPPO F27 Pro+ 5G sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED curved panel with up to 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, 950 nits peak brightness and a 394 ppi. The device sports up to 8GB LPDDR4x and 256GB of 3.1 storage. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor. It runs on ColorOS 14 based on Android 14.

The OPPO handset has a 64-megapixel f/1.7 main sensor, plus a 2MP f/2.4 portrait sensor. There’a an 8MP f/2.0 front-facing sensor. It gets a 5000mAh battery with 67W Fast charging support. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.3, GPS, and a USB-C port. The handset is also IP69 rated and has stereo speakers.

OPPO F27 Pro+: Should You Buy It?

At Rs 29,999, there are other options available in the market, including the Poco F6 5G. The handset not only gets you a sharper display with Dolby Vision support, but also a far superior under the hood paired with faster RAM and faster storage. It also offers an ultra-wide angle camera on the back that’s much more useful than the portrait sensor on Oppo’s F27 Pro+ 5G.

Next up, it offers you faster charging speeds as well. The only reason you could consider the OPPO F27 Pro+ is if you want a tough smartphone, because the F27 Pro+ looks like one, at least on paper. While the Poco F6 5G’s build didn’t disappoint us in our review of the device, it sure isn’t the most premium at its price point.

For an even cheaper price tag of Rs 24,999, there’s the Infinix GT 20 Pro that gets you a smoother 144Hz display, a more powerful MediaTek chipset, same RAM but more storage, along with faster RAM and a better primary rear camera sensor, at least on paper. You do miss out on charging speed and a clean software experience but if you are a gamer or need to perform other heavy tasks, then the Infinix GT 20 Pro shouldn’t disappoint you.

To sum up, the OPPO F27 Pro+ surely isn’t the most powerful device in its segment and it does lack behind in other areas too, except for when it comes to durability and build quality, which seems to be its standout feature. You should definitely consider more options in the market at Rs 29,999 but if you want durability, the F27 Peo+ seems like an ideal fit.

Samsung May Have Accidentally Confirmed Galaxy Buds 3 Series Redesign

0

Samsung still hasn’t officially confirmed the Galaxy Unpacked event that’s set to take place next month on the 10th as per leaks. However, thanks to numerous leaks, we already know what all is coming at the event, which includes the Galaxy Buds 3 series, the redesign for which may have accidentally been confirmed by Samsung.

A screenshot of Samsung Members posted by an X user shows the list of devices for which you want to report a problem and interestingly, the list includes the upcoming products from Samsung, namely the Galaxy Buds 3, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, Galaxy Watch FE, Galaxy Ring, and the Galaxy Watch 7.

One can can clearly observe that the placeholder icon for the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro resembles earbuds with a stem. In contrast, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro has a bean-like design with a rounded form factor, matching the real-world design of the earbuds.

Of course, Samsung may change the icon post the official launch of the earbuds to portray the actual design or, it may have just revealed the major redesign coming for the Galaxy Buds 3 series. Some other recently leaked renders suggest the stem design is actually coming to the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, allowing Samsung to fit in upgraded hardware. The redesigned buds could allow for a bugger battery and also a new mic position so it can better pickup the wearer’s voice during calls.

The buds are also expected to sport what’s called a Blade Light, that’s supposed to be a light strip on the stem of the buds. Furthermore, they are expected to feature an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance. It could also have Adaptive ANC, Adaptive EQ, Ambient Sound, and offer up to 30 hours of battery life. Finally, the buds may also support hi-res audio streaming with 24-bit 96KHz audio transmission likely via Samsung’s own SSC codec.
