This Galaxy S24 Series Feature Will Not Come To Galaxy S23 Series

0

Samsung Galaxy S24 series came loaded with Galaxy AI which was then ported by the company to its older flagships, including the Galaxy S23 series, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5 and the Tab S9 series. However, some of the features remain Galaxy S24 exclusive, such as full-screen AOD, and now the company has confirmed another feature that won’t be coming to Galaxy S23 series.

Samsung enabled a new Super HDR feature on its Galaxy S24 series, based on Google’s Ultra HDR feature that was made available beginning with Android 14. A Moderator confirmed on Samsung forums that the Super HDR feature won’t be making its way to the Galaxy S23 series. “In the case of Super HDR, only the S24 model that can be supported by AP and display is supported”, said the moderator.

As to what’s Super HDR, the feature enables lifelike photo viewing on supported models when these models capture photos with HDR enabled. Once clicked, the Galaxy S24 series will show these photos in the Gallery and apps like Instagram with higher dynamic range, deeper colours, and overall a better detailed photo. You can identify that it’s a Super HDR photo as the screen brightness increases as soon as the photo is displayed on the screen, be it in Instagram or the default Gallery app.

According to the moderator, the as well as the display have to support the Super HDR feature and both of them on the Galaxy S23 series seem advanced enough to handle it. However, it seems like Samsung may have to rework a lot on the camera in Galaxy S23 series to make this S24 series feature work and it may not be viable for the company to do so at the moment.

The feature in general, has been liked by many users and Galaxy S24 series users as well. It may come as a disappointment to older Samsung flagship customers but they still have a lot to get excited about with Galaxy AI and One UI 6.1 in general. The new software update has proven to be one of the best one in Samsung’s history so far as per our experience with it.

Apple AirPods Lite In Works: Report

0

Apple has constantly updated its AirPods lineup since it debuted the earbuds for the first time and the lineup may see an addition of a new set of earbuds called AirPods Lite, that will sit below the regular version of AirPods and the AirPods Pro. Here’s what we know about the upcoming TWS earbuds from the Californian smartphone maker.

In an investor note sent on Monday, analyst Jeff Pu claimed that Apple will release new a lower-cost version of AirPods called “AirPods Lite” sometime during the second half of 2024. Pu says that the AirPods production will see an increase later this year, “thanks to the launch of a low-cost model.” He also mentions that that the AirPods volume will dip by 4% year-over-year in 2024 to 55 million units because of “muted demand for existing models.” The report further added that Apple will also launch new AirPods Max model later in the year.

Aside from the existence of AirPods Lite, Pu didn’t share any other information about the upcoming TWS earbuds. Analyst Ming-chi Kuo has also mentioned in the past that a low-cost version of AirPods will be released in 2024 and could be priced at $99 (approx Rs 8,253).

For perspective, the regular AirPods (3rd Gen) sell for Rs 19,900 in India while the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) sell for Rs 24,900 in the country. Considering it’s a lite model, we expect Apple to cut down some of the features from these TWS earbuds in comparison to the other two models.

Back in December last year, a report suggesting two AirPods 4th Gen models are in works surfaced online. It came from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, a reliable source for insider information on Apple products.

Per that report, Apple will offer two new 4th gen non-Pro AirPods models that will have updated designs, redesigned cases and USB-C charging. The upper-end version of the two models will include active noise cancellation, a feature it would borrow from the AirPods Pro. This could mean that Apple may not offer ANC support in the AirPods Lite, if it’s the same AirPods 4th Gen lower-end model Gurman talked about in his report.

Realme 12x 5g india

Realme 12x 5G sports a 6.72-inch Full display with 120Hz refresh rate, 240hz touch sampling rate, Panda Glass protection and 950 nits of peak brightness. The device comes with an IP54 rating for splash and dust resistance. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ processor paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4 and 128GB of 2.2 storage.

For optics, it gets a dual camera setup at the back, including a 50MP f/1.8 primary sensor and a 2MP f/2.4 sensor. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie shooter that has an 80 degree field of view and an f/2.0 aperture. The handset is backed up by a 5000mAh battery with 45W fast wired charging.

The device runs on 14-based Realme UI 5.0 and gets dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth v5.3, GPS, 3.5mm and a USB-C port for connectivity options. The handset also has stereo speakers for audio and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for that also acts as a Dynamic button.

Realme 12x 5G: Competition

The Realme 12x 5G competes with the likes of Galaxy F15 5G (Rs 12,999) and the Moto G34 5G (Rs 10,999) as well. As for the former, the Galaxy F15 5G gets you a bigger 6000mAh battery, a better but with a lower 90Hz refresh rate, microSD card support up to 1TB, an ultra-wide angle camera, and the same (as 12x 5G) with a much more polished software experience which will get four major Android releases. For a thousand bucks more, all of the superior features of Galaxy F15 5G are far more worth than what we get in Realme’s 12x 5G.

In comparison to the Moto G34 5G, the 12x 5G falls short in terms of price, as the G34 5G is currently selling for Rs 10,999 for the 4GB + 128GB mode which is cheaper than Realme’s phone. However, you do have to compromise on the display and slower charging on the Motorola phone. The motorola device makes up for it with a slightly better processor, which is Snapdragon 695.

Overall, the competitors do exceed the Realme 12x 5G in terms of overall value and make it look like a weaker offering.

Poco India Reveals HyperOS Update Roadmap For Q2 2024: Check Supported Models

Poco India has now revealed its roadmap for the rollout of Xiaomi HyperOS update for its smartphones in Q2 of 2024. The new roadmap reveals that a total of five models will be receiving the update in this quarter. Here are all the details about the HyperOS rollout plan from Poco India.

Poco India revealed via an X post that its five of its smartphones will receive the HyperOS update in Q2 of 2024, including:

  • Poco F4
  • Poco M4 Pro
  • Poco C65
  • Poco M6
  • Poco X6 Neo

While an exact release date wasn’t shared, these Poco smartphones should receive the HyperOS update sometime by the end of June 2024. Poco also reiterated that the Poco X6, M4 5G, and the M6 Pro have already received the HyperOS update last month while it has also been released for devices like Poco C55, M5, X5, X5 Pro, X6 Pro and the Poco F5.

One of the surprising devices in the list that is yet to receive the update in Q2 is the Poco X6 Neo. The handset was launched last month but with 13-based MIUI 14 which is actually a bummer. That’s because brands like Motorola have launched cheaper devices than Poco X6 Neo with Android 14 pre-installed.

While that’s disappointing, Poco has also been facing a backlash on X due to the number of issues Poco X6 Pro users have been facing, including abnormal heating and excessive battery drain. The device has already received a couple of updates but so far, the issues haven’t been fixed according to complaints shared by the users on the social media platform. As of now, Poco hasn’t officially acknowledged the issue and there’s no sign of a proper fix incoming.

0

OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G Launched In India: Should You Consider?

0

OnePlus announced a new launch in India today, and it is the Nord CE 4 5G. The new Nord series smartphone succeeds the OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G from last year and brings some notable upgrades. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, supports 100W fast wired charging and more. Is it the smartphone to consider at it’s price or do you have better options? Let’s find out.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G: Price, Availability

The new Nord CE 4 5G is priced at Rs 24,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model and Rs 26,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model. It will be available in Celadon Marble and Dark shades, via OnePlus.in, Amazon.in, OnePlus Experience Stores and retail partner stores. The device will go on sale from April 4, at 12PM noon.

Those who order the handset on April 4 will get OnePlus Nord Buds 2r for free along with an exchange bonus of up to Rs 2,500. From April 5, buyers can avail a discount of Rs 1,500 with select bank cards, with the same exchange bonus of Rs 2,500.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G: Specifications

OnePlus Nord CE 4 unveiled

The Nord CE 4 5G will sport a 6.7-inch FHD+ with a 120Hz refresh rate, a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, sRGB, Display P3, 10-bit Color Depth, and HDR10+. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 paired with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of 3.1 storage. Moreover, the handset supports expandable storage up to 1TB.

For optics, the device features a 50MP f/1.8 Sony LYT-600 primary camera with OIS paired with an 8MP f/2.2 IMX355 ultra-wide angle sensor. There is a 16MP f/2.4 shooter on the front for selfies. The handset draws power from a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast wired charging support.

Connectivity options include hybrid 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 6, v5.4, GPS, and a USB port. The handset has an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, is IP54 rated and also gets stereo speakers.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G Vs. Nothing Phone (2a)

At it’s price, the Nord CE 4 5G has a few competitors to beat, with the strongest one being the Nothing Phone (2a). The Phone (2a) starts at Rs 23,999 for the same base model as Nord and Rs 25,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model which is again cheaper than the Nord. For a thousand bucks more, you get the 12GB RAM model which again offers an advantage over the Nord’s top-end model.

Aside from that, both of them have a similar display while the Nord’s is slightly more powerful. However, Nothing makes up for it in the software segment, offering a cleaner experience than the Nord CE 4 in our opinion, while also offering 3 years of OS upgrades which is a year longer than what you’d get with the Nord. In real world use, you may not notice a huge difference considering Nothing’s software is already quite smooth, as we noticed during our review.

While the cameras remain similar on-paper and we can’t compare them unless we use them side-by-side, we can say that both of them have practical setup. In terms of battery, OnePlus is the clear winner with a larger battery capacity and faster charging.

To conclude, the choice will remain subjective considering what suits you better. If you want a larger battery and faster charging, the Nord CE 4 5G is a better pick but if you want a cleaner software experience with longer support and a unique design for a cheaper price, the Nothing phone (2a) would fit that criteria the best.

Aside from this, at Rs 26,999, you may also consider the Poco X6 Pro 5G which is one of the most powerful smartphones in the price range with faster RAM and storage as well. However, do note that some users have been reporting heating and throttling issues with the device of late.

Nothing Phone (3) Leaks: Everything We Know

0

Nothing recently posted a video suggesting a new product launch and it seems like it could be the Nothing Phone (3). The details regarding the handset, including its launch timeline, it’s price range, and the details have now been tipped, giving us a hint at what the Nothing Phone (3) could bring. Here are all the leaks regarding the Nothing Phone (3).

Nothing Phone (3): Expected Launch Timeline

The leaks for the Nothing Phone (3) come from 91mobiles Hindi. As per the outlet, the Phone (3) is expected to debut in July this year, following the launch timeline of the Phone (1) and (2). An exact launch date wasn’t shared by the publication.

Nothing Phone (3): Expected Price Range

Nothing could follow the same pricing strategy it did last year, keeping the smartphone in the Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 price range. To recall, the Nothing Phone (2) was priced starting at Rs 44,999. It is possible the brand may lower the price this time but nothing is clear at the moment.

Aside from that, the report also states that the brand currently has no plans to enter the premium segment and aims to first create a strong user base within the budget range of Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000. As the first step towards its aim, the brand recently debuted the Nothing Phone (2a), priced starting at Rs 23,999.

Nothing Phone (3): Leaked Processor Details

As per the report, Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will power the upcoming Nothing Phone (3). The information arrives from an industry source closely associated with Nothing, according to 91mobiles Hindi. Similar to how the Phone (1) and Phone (2) didn’t opt for the utmost premium processor, the Phone (3) will also opt for a chipset lower than Qualcomm’s currently most powerful – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This should allow the brand to keep the smartphone price lower.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a fairly powerful chipset too, and gets a lot of the features from its elder sibling, the 8 Gen 3. Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a 4nm chip based on the TSMC process, consisting of an 8-core CPU structure which includes a Cortex-X4 prime core running at 3.0GHz clock speed, four performance cores at 2.8GHz and three efficiency cores at 2.0GHz. It supports up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM (up to 4,200MHz) and UFS 4.0 storage. The Adreno 735 GPU will handle the graphics.

To sum up, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 does pick up a decent amount of features from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 which definitely makes it a premium and capable chip.

Samsung Bixby May Finally Get The AI Upgrade It Deserves

0

Samsung went all in on with Galaxy AI on it’s Galaxy S24 series smartphones and then later expanding it to its previous flagships, such as the S23 series. However, Samsung is now also considering to upgrade its own voice assistant Bixby with new Generative AI features, something it should have done long back.

With Generative AI making its way to most voice assistants, Samsung and Apple have been behind in this race. Talking about the former, Won-joon Choi, executive vice president at Samsung’s mobile business, told CNBC in an interview last month that the Korean brand is planning to give Bixby a major upgrade with new AI smarts that would bring it in line with its competitors.

”With the emergence of generative AI and LLM (large language model) technology, I believe that we have to redefine the role of the Bixby, so that Bixby could be equipped with generative AI and become more smarter in the future,” Choi told CNBC. According to him, it will “enable a more natural conversation and to work out an interface that supports the Samsung products in our ecosystem.”

As of now, Bixby and Siri (from Apple) are two voice assistants that are in dire need of an AI upgrade. Both of them are tightly integrated within their respective operating systems but still aren’t as smart as some other assistants, such as ChatGPT or Gemini by Google.

The official did not give a timeline as to when users can expect to see the AI getting integrated into Bixby, but did say that Samsung is “working so hard” to deliver them. The brand has previously confirmed that Bixby is not going anywhere and will co-exist with the Galaxy AI features. However, it’s only logical for Samsung to also upgrade its voice assistant with advanced capabilities, especially when there are reports Apple is going to do the same to Siri with its upcoming 18 update.
