Oppo launched the Find X8 series back in November last year and the company has been steadily releasing updates to make the experience more stable and polished. The first 2025 update for Oppo Find X8 is now live in India, bringing stability improvements as well as a couple of new features.

The update weighed in at about 970MB and notably doesn’t include the January 2024 patch. The device is still on the December 2024 patch but should likely get an update later in the month that might bring the new patch, considering Oppo’s timely update trend. It adds a plethora of new Watermarks in the camera App under the categories of Film, Brand power, Hasselblad, Master’s signature, and Text.

The last updates for the device came in December, one of which included camera improvements, new features for live alerts pill on the top, some bug fixes, and of course, the December 2024 patch.

OnePlus debuted the OnePlus 13 series smartphones in India and global markets yesterday, and it has now announced the 180-day phone replacement plan for the OnePlus 13 series. As the name of the plan suggests, customers will get a free replacement of their device in case of an hardware issue within a limited period of time.

Users who buy a OnePlus 13 Series device before February 13, 2025 will have the ultimate peace of mind guarantee: Free replacement within the first 180 days of purchase in an unlikely event of a hardware issue with their new OnePlus 13 or OnePlus 13R. “This unique and first of its kind plan will enable them to immediately get a free replacement device,” said OnePlus.

The initiative covers all device components, including screens, back covers, batteries, and motherboards, etc. In the unlikely event that any hardware quality issue arises within the 180-day period, customers are entitled to a one-time device replacement, bypassing repairs entirely and ensuring a worry-free experience.

The exchange process is simple and user-friendly. Customers can visit any authorized service center to confirm eligibility to receive a replacement device. From January 10 to February 13, the service will be offered free of charge to anyone who purchases the OnePlus 13 series.

Post this period, this premium service remains accessible via an optional paid protection plan. Priced at Rs 2599 for the OnePlus 13 and Rs 2299 for the OnePlus 13R, the 180-day phone replacement plan for the OnePlus 13 series extends the service for an additional three months, providing continued peace of mind.

The “180-Day Phone Replacement Plan” is part of OnePlus’s Project Starlight in India, a strategic vision for future investment in the region to enhance device durability, deliver exceptional service, and create features tailored specifically for the Indian market. As a part of this program, the company announced a Green Line Worry-Free Solution last month. Through this solution, the brand will offer a lifetime warranty against the green line issue on all their smartphones sold in India.

The OnePlus 13R costs Rs 42,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model while the 16GB + 512GB trim costs Rs 49,999. OnePlus 13R: Specifications

The OnePlus 13R sports a 6.78-inch LTPO 4.1 AMOLED Display with a 1.5K Resolution (2780 x 1264 pixels), 1Hz – 120Hz refresh rate, 4500 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3, 2160Hz PWM Dimming, and 94.2% screen-to-body ratio. The panel is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powers the device with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Additionally, the OnePlus 13R has a triple camera setup at the rear including a 50MP f/1.8 Sony LYT700 primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP f/2.0 Samsung JN5 telephoto camera. On the front, there is a 16MP f/2.4 sensor for selfies and video calls.

It is backed by a 6000mAh battery that supports 80W SuperVOOC wired charging. Connectivity options include 5G, NFC, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, and USB-C for charging. OnePlus 13R vs OnePlus 12R

The OnePlus 13R base price has gone up by Rs 2,000 compared to OnePlus 12R’s base price of Rs 39,999. For this price bump, you get more storage and RAM in the OnePlus 13R base model itself, along with a similar display as 12R. Further, the Chipset has been upgraded from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to the 8 Gen 3.

The macro sensor of the 12R has been replaced with a telephoto sensor in the 13R which is a significant step up in the camera department. The battery is now also bigger in the 13R, compared to the 5500mAh cell of the OnePlus 12R. Next, the IP rating has also been bumped up from IP64 to IP65. The only spec that has downgraded is the charging speed, which has gone down from 100W to 80W in 13R. Because the battery capacity has also increased, the OnePlus 13R could take longer to charge compared to the 12R.

Overall, we feel OnePlus has justified the increase in price of the 13R over the 12R. The OnePlus 13R is looking like a value-for-money premium mid-range smartphone as of now, which should give a tough competition to many upcoming devices at this price point.

The OnePlus 13 5G sports a 6.82-inch QHD+ (3168 x 1440 pixels) 120Hz 3D AMOLED LTPO display. Furthermore, there is 4500 nits of peak brightness, adsptive refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 93.5% screen-to-body ratio, Dolby Vision support and Crystal Shield ultra-ceramic glass protection. The Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC powers the OnePlus 13 with up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Additionally, the OnePlus handset has a triple camera setup at the rear including a 50MP f/1.6 Sony LYT-808 primary sensor with two-axis OIS, 50MP f/2.0 Samsung JN5 ultra-wide angle sensor, and a 50MP f/2.6 Sony LYT-600 periscope telephoto camera with OIS, 3x Optical Zoom support and 120x Digital Zoom support. On the front, there is a 32MP f/2.4 Sony IMX615 sensor for selfies and video calls.

OnePlus 13 vs iQOO 13

The OnePlus 13 launched with a starting price of Rs 69,999 in India while the iQOO 13 starts at Rs 54,999. Both the devices have excellent displays but the iQOO 13 is a slightly better phone in this aspect if you want a higher Refresh Rate as it packs a 144Hz refresh rate panel. This would allow for a better experience, particularly for gamers as the content would look smoother in supported games.

Both of them have the same Chipset so you can expect ultimate performance from both of them. In the RAM and storage department, though, the OnePlus 13 takes the lead as it offers a 24GB + 1TB model while iQOO 13 tops out at 16GB + 512GB version.

Software is also where the OnePlus 13 shines with OxygenOS 15 smoothness and customisation. We feel OnePlus’ software is far more fluid and polished than iQOO’s FunTouch OS 15. iQOO and OnePlus will both offer 4 years of OS updates but OnePlus is set to offer 6 years of security patches while iQOO will offer for 5 years.

As for the cameras, they have identical setups so we won’t comment on which one’s the better out of the two as we haven’t tested them in real world scenarios. They both have a 6000mAh battery and while OnePlus 13 has 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, iQOO 13 has only 120W wired charging. The OnePlus 13 also supports a range of magnetic charging accessories which is something not available in iQOO 13.

The iQOO 13 poses a tough competition to the OnePlus 13 with a cheaper price tag and a smoother display. In other words, if you are someone who requires a smartphone for gaming and can work with FunTouch OS 15, then you may consider iQOO’s smartphone but if you want an all-rounded experience which is much more polished, paying a Rs 15,000 premium for the OnePlus 13 over the iQOO 13 shouldn’t hurt either.
