Stable OxygenOS 15 for OnePlus 12 Rolls Out Globally, Minus AI Features

0

OxygenOS 15 for OnePlus 12 is now rolling out globally for all users. The stable build revamps the animation engine from the ground up and includes several new features, such as extensive lock screen customisation, new Always-on display clock styles, and more.

As announced on OnePlus Community, the global rollout of OxygenOS 15 for OnePlus 12 began one week earlier than anticipated. The rollout has started across India, North America, Europe, and other international regions and will continue reaching more users in batches throughout the week.

The versions that are being rolled out for various regions are as follows:

  • IN: CPH2573_15.0.0.206(EX01)
  • NA: CPH2583_15.0.0.205(EX01)
  • EU/GLO: CPH2581_15.0.0.204(EX01)

Some notable changes in the update include a new system graphics engine that enhances rendering and animation, delivering smooth, uninterrupted visuals even under heavy load. System-wide swipe consistency has been extended to third-party apps, providing a seamless scrolling experience.

The Home screen has been redesigned with updated icons, new themes, floating window gestures, and resizable Split View windows. There’s now a separate Quick Settings and notification drawer, a refreshed Quick Settings design, and a selection of new wallpapers. These changes are just a small part of the extensive OnePlus release changelog.

However, it seems like OnePlus rushed to get the update out to the general public as soon as possible because the company noted that it doesn’t have any features. The brand said in the post, “To provide the signature fast and smooth OnePlus experience, AI-related features are still being tested and will be gradually integrated in future versions by the end of this month.”

The company recently also rolled out the closed beta of OxygenOS 15 for a couple of its Nord smartphones. Unfortunately, the update for these mid-range devices has a major omission: the new animation engine that OnePlus 12 users get.

How to Create an Amazon Pay Shortcut for Quick Access on Phone?

0

Amazon is not solely an e-commerce platform in India but also a payment service provider, as it supports UPI payments through its own platform, Amazon Pay. Integrated within the Amazon app, it could get a little difficult for users to access Amazon Pay in situations where they have to make a quick payment. Thankfully, Amazon now provides a way to create an Amazon Pay shortcut on the home screen so it can quickly open the payments interface. Here’s how you can create that shortcut.

Step 1

This method of creating an Amazon Pay shortcut seems to be available only on Amazon’s app. Open the Amazon on your Android device.

Step 2

Amazon Pay shortcut guide

Tap on the middle icon in the bottom navigation bar and click the ‘Pay’ button.

Step 3

Amazon pay shortcut step 3

Once Amazon Pay screen opens up, scroll down and find a banner that says “Amazon Pay Icon.” After you have seen it, tap on the “Add Now” button.

Step 4

After you have tapped on it, you’ll see a pop-up stating that the Amazon Pay icon was successfully created on your home screen. Now, you can open the and find the Amazon Pay shortcut icon next to the Amazon app. Tapping on it will directly take you to the Amazon Pay section within the Amazon app.

That is how you can create an Amazon Pay shortcut on your home screen. It saves you from the number of taps you had to perform earlier to access Amazon Pay. Note that you need to have the Amazon app installed for the Amazon Pay shortcut icon to work, as it’s merely a shortcut and not a standalone app.

Telegram Wants to Become a Full-Fledged Video Player

0

Telegram wants to become a full-fledged video player as it adds a host of new features in its latest update related to video streaming. The new update includes video streaming enhancements such as faster loading, better quality and new speed controls – plus chat-specific hashtags, revenue sharing for bot developers and much more.

An X post by Telegram’s official account confirms that Telegram wants to become a full-fledged video player. The app recently announced a new update that adds a slew of new features, such as faster video loading and better quality. For videos newly uploaded to large channels, the video player now automatically selects a quality level based on your connection to save your data and load videos faster. Users can also manually select their preferred quality level—highMedium, or Low.

On iOS, one can now swipe up on the video player while a video is playing to enable Picture-in-Picture mode. Then, large channel owners can afford to post better-quality videos, as they will no longer need to pre-process their videos for the best viewing experience. That’s because Telegram will now optimise each uploaded video for them and compress it in several qualities. Users on weaker connections will automatically get more compressed videos, while those with high-speed internet can enjoy the full resolution.

Telegram also borrowed a feature from YouTube. Users can now hold down on the right side of a video to activate 2x speed and slide right gradually to increase the speed to up to 2.5x. They can release their finger to return to normal speed.

While these were the video streaming enhancements added in the latest Telegram update, there are some other additions, too. For instance, users can now quickly edit a message to add media in just two taps rather than deleting it and starting over. Edited messages now show a timestamp, displaying when the message was last edited. If a message has been edited more than once, it will show the time of the most recent edit.

Chat-specific hashtags, Telegram ads in bots, exact reaction counters, and an increased message limit for bots are other enhancements introduced in the update.

iOS 18 Update: Time Remaining Till Full Charge in iPhones Coming Soon

0

iOS 18 was released by Apple earlier this year and the company has been slowly introducing various changes with the following updates. A new addition Apple could be working on that could be introduced with a future update could show the time remaining till full charge in iPhones.

The new feature is not yet enabled, but was spotted by 9to5Mac in the code of iOS 18.2 beta 2, which was released to developers on Monday. A new framework called “BatteryIntelligence” will estimate the time required to recharge the phone, likely based on the energy input the device is receiving. Furthermore, users can opt to receive notifications with an estimated time to reach specific charge levels, such as 80%.

Although the feature that shows the time remaining till full charge in iPhones was discovered in the code of the latest beta, it remains disabled and incomplete, indicating that Apple is still developing it. It may appear in a future iOS 18.2 beta or another software update. Notably, macOS already offers a similar feature for MacBooks in the Battery menu.

iOS 18 has already introduced several new features focused on battery health. For example, users can now set the iPhone’s maximum charge limit to 80%, 85%, 90%, or 95% to help extend battery lifespan. Additionally, iOS now indicates when the iPhone has been charged using a slower charger.

Aside from this discovery, the iOS 18.2 update brings a couple of new Apple Intelligence features as well. This includes ChatGPT integration in Siri and Visual Intelligence on iPhone 16 models, along with features like Genmoji and Image Playground. Other than that, the iOS 18 update is a huge one for Apple, as it includes huge changes like a new Theme engine, RCS support, redesigned control center, and much more.

Bad News for Users: OxygenOS 15 Closed Beta for OnePlus Nord CE 4, Nord CE 4 Lite Announced

0

OnePlus recently released the OxygenOS 15 beta for OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R users and has now announced the OxygenOS 15 Closed Beta for OnePlus Nord CE 4 and Nord CE 4 Lite. While this update introduces significant changes and new features, a key improvement appears to be missing in the OxygenOS 15 Closed Beta for OnePlus Nord CE 4 and CE 4 Lite.

Announced on the OnePlus Community, the company began recruiting closed beta testers to preview OxygenOS 15 on OnePlus Nord CE 4 and the Nord CE 4 Lite. OnePlus will select 2000 users out of all the applications and then seed the OTA update to their devices. The application period began on November 4 and will end today, November 6. OnePlus also cautioned users of slow responsiveness and crashes they may experience as the version is still a work in progress.

OxygenOS 15, based on 15, brings revamped animations for OnePlus users, including a parabolic bounce effect for icons and industry-first parallel processing for animations, which not only makes them smoother but also much faster than what users experienced in OxygenOS 14. However, it seems like OnePlus Nord CE 4 and Nord CE 4 Lite users won’t be able to experience these new animations as they seem to be missing in the version of OxygenOS 15 built for these devices.

Users on X spotted the differences between the change log of the OxygenOS 15 update shared by OnePlus for Nord CE 4, CE 4 Lite, and the change log shared for the OnePlus 12 and 12R for the same update. The main difference lies in the details in the “Animations” section. The OxygenOS 15 update for the OnePlus 12 included the following animation changes, which are absent in the Nord devices’ versions:

  • “A cutting-edge system graphics engine is available to deliver superior rendering and animation performance. Its innovative parallel drawing architecture ensures smooth, uninterrupted visuals, even when switching between multiple apps or pushing the system to its limits. Stability and fluidity are guaranteed under any conditions.
  • Parallel animation covers more elements, such as widgets, components, and folders, ensuring seamless transitions and smooth animations even during frequent interruptions.
  • System-wide swipe consistency is extended to third-party apps, including WebView interfaces, for a uniform scrolling experience across the entire system.”

This confirms that Nord users won’t experience the same animations OnePlus 12 and 12R users will. This is bad news for users of the devices who were expecting an animation upgrade with OxygenOS 15, considering OnePlus also didn’t give these devices the same animations earlier as they did with the Nord 4 and its number series flagships. The two Nord devices in concern have the ages-old fade-in and fade-out animations while closing or opening apps, similar to what we saw with the OPPO Reno 12 Pro 5G.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Launches Ticket Booking via Google Messages

Route Mobile, a cloud communication platform provider, has collaborated with Billeasy, a Mumbai-based integration partner, and Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) to introduce an innovative ticketing experience powered by Rich Communication Services (RCS) and Google Wallet.

This solution allows commuters to book e-tickets for HMR, save them in Google Wallet, and access them through multiple channels. With RCS, commuters can book tickets directly from their default app, Google Messages, bypassing ticketing queues at stations and removing the need to download extra apps.

To get started, commuters simply scan a QR code and send a text to L&T Metro Rail’s official handle via Google Messages. They’re then prompted to select their starting point, destination, and ticket type.

Payments can be securely completed through UPI with instant confirmation. Once booked, tickets are automatically stored in Google Wallet, making them easy to access directly from the commuter’s phone for a smooth travel experience—no downloads required. The Hyderabad Metro Rail e-ticket booking service operates within the Google Messages app and is currently available exclusively to Android users.

Google Wallet debuted in India earlier this year in May. At launch, Google partnered with 20 of India’s top brands to enable the Google Wallet experience, including PVR & INOX, Air India, Indigo, Flipkart, Pine Labs, Kochi Metro, Abhibus and many others, and noted that more partners would be added in the months to follow.

With Flipkart (Supercoins), Dominos, Shoppers Stop, and brands supported by loyalty program enablers Pinelabs, EasyRewardz and Twid, shoppers can store and use digital copies of their loyalty and gift cards in Google Wallet. Kochi Metro, Hyderabad Metro, VRL Travels, and Abhibus, travellers can easily store their transit tickets.

One can create new passes in Wallet from any image containing a barcode or QR code, such as airline boarding passes, luggage tags, or parking receipts. After booking a movie ticket, IPL ticket, or train ticket, the event confirmation sent to a person’s Gmail account will automatically appear in their Google Wallet if they have smart personalization settings in Gmail turned on.

Android 16 Release Date Revealed in a New Leak

0

Google has confirmed that Android 16 release will be taking place significantly earlier than the usual release timeline for new Android versions. While the next version of Android has been confirmed to release sometime in Q2 of 2025, a new leak now claims to have revealed the exact date of Android 16 release.

According to Android Headlines, Android 16 is going to release on June 3, which does match the vague timeline shared by Google. This means that Google plans to release Android 16 approximately 2 to 3 months earlier than its previous release timeline, which was set in August and October. This year, Android 15 release was delayed by more than a month, and didn’t come pre-installed on the latest Pixel smartphones like how it does usually.

The primary reason for this early launch is to ensure Android 16 can be preloaded on new partner devices debuting in the fall of 2025. By launching in June, devices releasing in July, August, and September are more likely to come with Android 16 installed. This timeline also allows Google to roll out a second, smaller update later in the year.

The return to point updates is primarily driven by the need for faster integration of AI advancements. Google aims to enable developers and OEMs to quickly access new AI features, facilitating a more agile and responsive ecosystem.

Google also preponed its Pixel launch timeline up by about two months this year. Where Pixel phones used to launch in the beginning of October, Google debuted them in mid-August this year. Moving up the Android 16 release timeline could mean that the next set of Pixel devices, likely the Pixel 10 series, will come pre-installed with the latest version of Android that Google has to offer—unlike the Pixel 9 series.

This could also mean that the likes of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, which are likely to debut in July, will also be coming with Android 16 out of the box. Speaking of Samsung, the company is also facing some issues with One 7 based on Android 15 internally, as its beta has also been delayed compared to when Samsung usually launches a beta for its next major One UI version.
