Aside from that, Google detailed new features coming to Android, including Music recognition support in Circle to Search. “Whether it’s a song playing on social media from your phone or music that’s playing from speakers near you, just long-press the Home button or the navigation bar to activate Circle to Search, then tap the music button to identify the track name, artist and even open a YouTube video to explore more,” said Google.

Next, TalkBack in Android, which serves as the screen reader for the operating system, will now make digital images even more accessible with detailed audio descriptions powered by Gemini models on supported devices. Whether you’re looking at online product images, photos in your camera roll, pictures in text messages or images of what’s happening on social media, TalkBack powered by Gemini will provide you with a detailed description of these images.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE has been a part of the rumour mill since the beginning of the year, and as its launch nears, new information about the device keeps emerging online. The latest information has revealed the potential price of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 FE in India.

As tipped by Yogesh Brar on X, the Galaxy S24 FE India price could be set at around Rs 50,000. As per Brar, the device will be available in up to 12GB + 256GB variant, so there’s no word on which variant could cost around Rs 50,000 in the country. The leak suggests that Samsung could reduce the price of the S24 FE over its predecessor. However, there’s no official confirmation regarding this, and we’ll have to wait for Samsung to announce the device. We saw some significant improvements in Exynos 2400 over its predecessor when we used the Galaxy S24+ and the Galaxy S24. We expect similar improvements to be a part of the Galaxy S24 FE, too. X TV App Now Available in Beta: Elon Musk

0

X, formerly known as Twitter, is entering the streaming space. It has announced that its X TV app is now available in beta on multiple television operating systems. While no specific details have been shared about the app, we know it will contain content specifically tailored for a big screen.

As Elon Musk shared on X, the X TV app is now available in beta for TVs, LG, Amazon Fire TV, and Google TV. Furthermore, more integrations are coming soon, which means that X will add support for operating systems, such as Samsung’s Tizen OS, in the future.

Users can locate the X TV app by searching for ‘X TV’ in their device’s app store. On certain TVs, particularly those with access to the Google Play Store, you may need to navigate directly to Google Play to find and install the app.

X TV app on Android TV

The app aims to integrate users’ TV experiences, allowing them to access content directly on their television screens. This content could include live streams, video posts, and other exclusive content tailored for a larger screen. YouTube already offers such services via its TV app, so it’ll be interesting to see how X TV competes with YouTube’s TV app.

We couldn’t test the app as it doesn’t show for us in India on the Google Play Store. It may be a phased rollout, because of which the app isn’t visible. Further, it is important to note that the app is in beta, so one can expect it to have bugs.

We don’t know whether the X TV app also supports short-form videos, a format that has quickly gained traction in recent times. In comparison, YouTube added support for Shorts in its TV app around two years back, and it designed the feature’s UI to take full advantage of the big screen.

New Google Play Store Feature To Auto-Open Apps After Installation

0

Google is working on a new feature for the Play Store that will auto-open apps after installation. Currently, users have to manually open an app from the Play Store’s app listing page or through the app drawer. However, the upcoming Play Store update will save users this effort for added convenience.

As spotted by Android Authority in an teardown of Google Play Store version 42.5.15, the feature adds a new “Turn on Auto-open” toggle underneath the Open button on Play Store listings of apps after you select Install. If you enable the auto-open feature, the toggle’s description will change to “Automatically open after install,” and the Play Store will then launch the newly installed app as soon as the installation process finishes.

Google Play store new auto-open feature

After the download reaches 100% and the Play Store starts installing the app, a notification appears, indicating the time remaining before the app opens automatically. Code related to this feature suggests that the notification will always display a 5-second countdown, allowing users to easily anticipate how long it will take for the app to launch once the notification appears.

The outlet notes that the auto-open apps feature in Google Play Store is fully functional in the APK version that was investigated, which means it will soon reach all users as well.

Meanwhile, Google recently also added the functionality of concurrent updating or installing of up to 3 apps in Play Store. Once you tap on the ‘Update all’ button, Google Play Store can now download updates for up to 3 apps at once and even install them simultaneously. Apps that are in the list to download beyond the three that are being updated show the ‘pending’ status which is the usual status we have been seeing for years.
