Samsung Debuts Exynos 2500 SoC Ahead of Next-Gen Foldables’ Launch

Samsung has announced a new flagship dubbed Exynos 2500. Successor to last year’s Exynos 2400, Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2500 features a customized 4th generation Xclipse 950 GPU, is made on a 3nm node, and has a Cortex-X5 prime core. The chipset is expected to make an appearance next month inside the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Here’s everything else to know about the chip.

Exynos 2500 SoC: All Details

Thanks to Exynos 2500’s powerful NPU that can run up to 59 trillion operations per second (TOPS), the chip brings on-device that represents a 39% improvement over its predecessor.

The NPU embedded in the Exynos 2500 features two 12K MAC clusters creating an impressive 24K MAC capability, which is significantly higher than the previous model’s 17K MAC performance. It also brings enhanced vector engine efficiency for generative AI model acceleration.

Built on 3nm Gate All Around (GAA) process technology, the Exynos 2500 provides better power efficiency and enhanced heat dissipation at a much reduced chip thickness through fan-out wafer-level packaging (FOWLP), says the brand. Plus, further optimization has been achieved through the modifications to core structure and implementation of an GNSS interface.

Exynos 2500 has adopted the Arm Cortex-X925 and has ten cores in a 1+7+2 arrangement. Big-core performance has also improved by a claimed 15% over the predecessor. There’s the Cortex-X5 ticking at 3.3 GHz, two Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.74 GHz, five Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.36 GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores running at 1.8 GHz clock speed.

The Exynos 2500 adopts new image quality improvement features, including multi-layer noise reduction (MLNR), enhanced temporal & spatial noise reduction, as well as its premier Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) tone mapping function for sharper contrast in the area of detail.

It comes with AI-based image processing and supports ultra-high-resolution cameras that shoot up to 320MP. It also allows for 8K video recording and playback of 60 and 30 fps, respectively. Thanks to an upgraded image signal processor, you can shoot vivid images and videos in high resolution.

The chip is powered by a customized 4th generation Xclipse 950 GPU. The Xclipse GPU’s increased rendering speed improves hardware-accelerated ray tracing for smoother, more immersive gaming experiences.

The Exynos 2500 provides seamless communication through its NR modem that supports the latest 3GPP Rel. 17. The modem enables downlink speeds of up to 9.6 for FR1 and 12.1 Gbps for FR2. It also supports up to 1024-QAM, which is a spectral efficiency more than 20% improved over existing modems.

Furthermore, the Exynos 2500’s built-in modem has non-terrestrial network (NTN) capabilities that utilize satellites for free-flowing connectivity even in cellular dead zones. The Exynos 2500 also comes with a built-in GNSS block and allows the latest connectivity features — such as 5.4 and 7 — to interface.

The chip can support 4K/WQUXGA displays running at 120 refresh rate. There’s support for 4.0 storage and LPDDR5x RAM.

While Samsung didn’t officially reveal the first device to use this chip, it is expected to be the Galaxy Z Flip 7 that will reportedly debut on July 9th.

AI+ Nova 5G, AI+ Pulse Smartphones’ Design Revealed, July Launch Confirmed for India

AI+ Smartphones today unveiled the names and camera configuration of its first variants: Pulse and Nova 5G. The company says that the user data will be stored on MeitY-approved servers hosted by Google Cloud within India. While the company hasn’t confirmed an exact launch date, it says the devices will be sold exclusively via Flipkart and will arrive sometime in July 2025.

For those uninitiated, Alcatel, under the leadership of Madhav Sheth in India, recently re-entered the smartphone market. At the same time, Sheth is also spearheading NxtQuantum Shift Technologies as its founder and CEO, which is set to launch a new smartphone under the AI+ brand in India. The launch was supposed to happen by June end but has now been postponed to July.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy S25 FE Renders Leaked

0

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy S25 FE renders have all been leaked by different sources. The renders for the Z Fold 7 show how thin of a foldable it is going to be, while the Flip 7 renders corroborate the previously leaked ones and show us the design in various colour options. As for S25 FE, don’t expect any major changes compared to the S24 FE in terms of design.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 Renders

The Z Flip 7 renders show us a design we have seen before, but this time in official colour options. The cover screen has changed for the better, with the panel taking up the whole front area this time and going around the camera cutouts. The renders for the Flip 7 show the device in the Blue Shadow and Jet Black colours.

Z Flip 7 shadow blue

Aside from that, the Flip 7 is also going to be thinner compared to the Flip 6. The button placement remains identical to the Flip 6, including the fingerprint sensor. Aside from that, one can expect the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, a camera setup same as the Flip 6, along with a similar foldable panel, up to 12GB and up to 512GB of storage.

Z Fold 7 shadow blue renders

As for the Fold 7, we are seeing it for the first time in official colours, which as of now include a blue and a black shade. Fold 7 renders have also been leaked before but the official-looking renders give us a better idea of what to expect from the device. It can also be seen wth a thin profile compared to the Fold 6 and the difference is notable.

Leaked in Blue Shadow and Jet Black colours, the Fold 7 is also expected to bear a weight of 215 grams which is 24 grams lighter than its predecessor. As for the cover display, it is rumoured to be 6.5-inches in size, versus the 6.3-inches on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Since the cover display is larger, that also means the inner display is going to be larger. It’ll be 8.2 inches apparently, which would make it the largest screen on a foldable, as per the Android Headlines report.

Galaxy S25 FE Renders

Galaxy S25 FE renders

The Galaxy S25 FE renders were leaked by a different source, and that’s SammyGuru. As per the leaked renders, the design of the handset remains largely similar to its predecessor. There’s a flat aluminium frame, a glass back panel, and three camera individually stacked below one another.

The buttons are on the right spine. The report suggests that the Galaxy S25 FE will keep the 6.7-inch Super with a 120Hz refresh rate. The bezels could also be trimmed down on the S25 FE. The report notes that the device will run on One UI 8 out of the box, same as the Fold 7 and Flip 7, and will receive 7 years of updates and security patches.

Budget Phones’ Comparison: iQOO Z10 Lite 5G and Realme C73 5G

0

The budget smartphone segment in India is getting flooded with new options every month and so it may become a little difficult to choose the perfect one. Here we are to help you with a comparison between a couple of newly launched smartphones — iQOO Z10 Lite 5G and Realme C73 5G.

Display

The Realme C73 5G sports a 6.67-inch (1604 x 720 pixels) HD+ IPS LCD screen with 120z refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, 83% NTSC colour range, and up to 625 nits peak brightness. The iQOO Z10 Lite 5G on the other hand, sports a 6.74-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits peak brightness, and 269 PPI.

IQOO z10 lite 5G shades

Between the iQOO Z10 Lite 5G and Realme C73 5G, the latter has a higher refresh rate while the former has a brighter panel, so it depends on what your preference is. If you work outdoors a lot, then iQOO’s device could be better pick but in daily general use, Realme’s display will feel more fluid which’ll enhance the overall experience significantly.

Performance & Software

The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 powers the two devices, paired with up to 8GB of RAM on the iQOO Z10 Lite 5G and only 4GB on Realme’s device. You get up to 128GB of storage on Realme’s handset and up to 256GB on iQOO’s device. The handsets further support expandable memory up to 1TB with a microSD card slot.

Realme C73 5G

As for performance, both of them should suffice for regular tasks but don’t expect anything more than that from either of them. iQOO’s device does have an advantage here, as it offers more storage in its base model and also more RAM options than Realme. Both of them run on their respective 15-based skins, so you’ll have to pick your choice there as well.

Cameras & Battery

For optics, Realme’s device has a 32MP primary sensor on the back and an LED flash. At the front, there’s an 8MP sensor for selfies and video calls. The iQOO Z10 Lite 5G features a dual camera setup on the back, with a 50MP f/1.8 Sony primary sensor and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. There is a 5MP f/2.2 shooter on the front for selfies.

We can’t comment on which one performs better in the camera segment as we haven’t tested them side-by-side but on the basis of on-paper specs, iQOO’s rear camera specs do look superior.

Both the iQOO Z10 Lite 5G and Realme C73 5G pack a massive 6000mAh battery with support for 15W fast wired charging. While their on-paper specs suggest comparable performance, real-world results often hinge on software optimisation. That said, this round ends in a draw.

Verdict

The Realme C73 5G starts at Rs 10,499 for the 4GB + 64GB model and costs Rs 11,499 for the 4GB + 128GB trim. The iQOO Z10 Lite 5G priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 10,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage models, respectively. The 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version is priced at Rs 12,999.

Both devices offer solid value for their respective price points, each excelling in different areas. It’s tough to declare a clear winner, but if you’re on a tighter budget, the iQOO Z10 Lite 5G is the better pick. However, if a smoother display and Realme’s software experience matter more to you, the Realme C73 5G is the way to go.
