Google Photos Update: New Video Editing Features, Redesigned Editor, AI Presets, and More

0

A new Google Photos update has been pushed by Google with a revamped look for the video editor, new video editing tools, along with new presets and more new features. The new Google Photos update will be pushed to both and devices and here’s what all it has to offer.

Google Photos has been updated with a new look for the video editor, where the editing tools are now front and center, so you can find what you need in an instant. The Google Photos update also introduces new video editing tools, such as:

  • Updated trim tool: Trim your videos with improved controls that let precisely cut the footage you want.
  • New Auto enhance button: Enhance colors and stabilize your videos in one tap.
  • New Speed tool: Increase the pacing or create a dramatic slow-mo with the new speed tool, giving you control over the pace of your videos.

Aside from these, AI-powered video presets are also coming on Android and iOS devices to help you “quickly get great edited videos with minimal effort.” These presets can automatically trim the video, adjust lighting, control speed, or apply effects like dynamic motion tracking of main subject, zooming in the main action, or applying slow-mo with just a few taps.

Meanwhile, Google recently also updated its Meet video conferencing with a new dual screen feature which is available exclusively on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The new feature allows the user to share both the video feeds from the front camera and the back camera, taking full advantage of the large foldable display of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The outer screen will also display the video feed of the caller, in addition to showing the feeds from both cameras. For example, if you’re on a call and someone nearby wants to speak to the person you’re talking to, you won’t need to hand over your device. Instead, you can use this feature to display the caller’s video on the outer screen, allowing the nearby person to see and hear the caller, and enabling the caller to see and hear them as well. This makes it easy for both parties to communicate without the need to pass around the phone.

Dual Screen Feature in Google Meet Now Available Exclusively for Pixel 9 Pro Fold

0

Google has introduced a new dual screen feature in Google Meet which is available exclusively on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The new feature allows the user to share both the video feeds from the front camera and the back camera, taking full advantage of the large display of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Share via a Workspace updates blog post, Google said, “Through the use of the front and inner cameras, you can now show both yourself and what you’re looking at at the same time. Additionally, the person you’re video chatting with can be seen on both the inner and outer screens to include everyone around you in the call.”

In addition to showing video feeds from both cameras, the video of the caller will also be accessible on the outer screen. For instance, when you are on a call and the person around you wants to talk to the caller, you won’t have to give your device to the person but instead use this feature to show them the caller so the person could see and hear them and vice versa.

The dual screen feature in Google Meet is rolling out now and is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. Keep in mind that the feature is exclusive to Pixel 9 Pro Fold as of now.

Back in August, Google Meet announced a revamped design for its app, taking better advantage of the larger tablet screens along with a more immersive video calling experience on all devices. The redesigned Google Meet App has a new layout that includes call control buttons that mirror the meeting experience.

In addition, it expanded the video feed to encompass spaces where there were previously margins around the video feed. This helps provide a richer, more immersive viewing experience. It also introduced clearer indicators for information such as the meeting title.

The testing for Pause ads has been ongoing for a while now. Back in April this year, Google executive Philipp Schindler shared encouraging results from the experiment, describing Pause ads as a “non-interruptive” format that appears when viewers pause their content.
