Mivi SuperPods Halo TWS Earbuds Review: Should You Buy These?

0

Mivi, the Indian audio brand debuted a new pair of earbuds recently which it considers as a flagship launch, called the Mivi SuperPods Halo. Priced at Rs 1,499, the SuperPods Halo comes with a decent amount of features such as ANC, 3D surround sound, and much more. However, how well do they perform in the real world? Let’s find that out.

Design & Comfort

Mivi SuperPods Halo

The Mivi SuperPods Halo come with a flashy design with a notably glossy case where the lid of the case is of golden shade. The case is made entirely of plastic, and honestly, its quality doesn’t inspire much confidence in its durability, whether it can withstand a few drops or if handled with force when opening. Furthermore, it also makes the lid of the case prone to scratches, and even though I have been using them with utmost care, I already have a load of scratches on the top.

SuperPods Halo

There are four LEDs on the front telling you the battery level of the case and the buds. At the back, there’s a USB-C port for charging the case. The buds’ design retains a glossy look and fits well in the ear. They are comfortable to wear during whatever activity you are doing. The buds are also IPX4-rated for water resistance.

Overall, while the buds are comfortable to wear and look good in the ear, the case isn’t quite well-built. It purely focuses on the looks, because of which durability might have taken a step back. However, it might still appeal to you due to the glossy looks, but you’ll have to make a tradeoff with durability if you opt for looks.

Sound Quality, ANC, controls, Battery Life

SuperPods Halo case

As for the sound quality, it relies on 13mm drivers and in our experience, it wasn’t the most impressive. The mid-range and low-end frequencies take over the vocals and high-end frequencies. Due to that, songs sound muffled in most cases. Even after playing around with the equaliser on offer, I couldn’t get the songs to sound as clear as they should. Aside from the default equaliser, you get 8 more options to choose from, including a custom one, as mentioned before.

Speaking of Active Noise Cancellation, the buds can cancel up to 35db of noise and while ANC wasn’t the most effective in canceling out most noises, it works as it should for canceling out human chatter, fan noise to some extent, and more. The Transparency mode barely works, with only slightly enhancing ambient sounds.

With the Mivi Audio app, you can further customise the touch controls of the buds, and choose from various actions for single tap, double tap, triple tap, and tap & hold. The touch controls work well and aren’t overly sensitive to the touch.

Mivi audio app

Next, spatial audio support is present as well, which basically adds an echo to the music and makes it sound louder. Gaming mode helps reduce the while playing games to some extent.

There’s also a Kids mode, which lowers the volume of the buds to protect children’s sensitive ears. In addition, a ‘Find my device’ option is also available to find the buds in case you lose them somewhere.

However, the app itself has some issues. While the UI is neat, some elements look odd, such as an ad banner for other Mivi products in the middle. Moreover, the version of the app keeps playing a video advertisement despite dismissing it repeatedly. I couldn’t update the buds properly on the version of the app. Even though the app showed that the update was successful, it kept on repeating the updation process by showing an update was available.

As for the battery backup, Mivi promises 60 hours of total playtime with the case and 8.5 hours on a single charge. We are assuming these numbers do not factor in ANC usage, as we couldn’t reach these stats with our usage of the buds. However, the buds and the case can still easily last for days without recharging.

Finally, the call quality of the Mivi SuperPods Halo is acceptable at best. It is fine indoors, but when it gets noisy, such as traffic noise, the buds pick up external noise, which could make it difficult for the person on the other end to hear your voice.

UBON Plans to Elevate Budget TWS Earbuds with Premium Features

UBON India, a leading audio and electronics brand, is making strides to position itself as a key player in the highly competitive budget True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds segment. In a recent interview with The Mobile Indian, Lalit Arora, co-founder of UBON India, spoke about the company’s future product plans and its strategy to introduce premium features in affordable TWS earbuds.

Arora emphasized the brand’s focus on offering “premiumness” within the budget segment, differentiating its products through superior quality and innovative features. “We will add premiumness in budget TWS earbuds by offering superior quality over competitors and adding features like support,” said Arora.

App Support

In a market crowded with well-known brands such as boAt, Noise, and Realme, UBON’s strategy aims to stand out by focusing on enhancing the customer experience with features often reserved for higher-end models. One key development UBON is working on is app support for its budget earbuds. While specific details about the app’s capabilities were not disclosed, the app is expected to provide users with greater control over their earbuds, allowing them to fine-tune audio settings to their personal preferences.

“App support is something that is lacking in the budget TWS earbuds space, and we are working on it,” Arora said. Though he refrained from providing further details, he assured that app integration is in the works and will offer users more granular control over their audio experience once available.

In addressing customer feedback, Arora acknowledged that noise cancellation and build quality have been areas of concern for some users. However, he assured that UBON is actively working on improving these aspects. “We are listening to the feedback from our users and are working on improving our products accordingly,” Arora said. He highlighted the importance of maintaining product quality while ensuring that features meet consumer expectations, especially in an increasingly competitive market where consumers are becoming more discerning about their audio devices.

After Sales Service

UBON is also keen on maintaining a strong relationship with its customer base by offering robust after-sales service. According to Arora, the brand takes pride in its policy of providing replacement products to customers who experience genuine issues with their purchases. “We provide customers with a new model of their product in case they are not satisfied with the quality of the product they received and there’s a genuine issue with that particular model,” Arora explained.

Budget TWS Earbuds with Premium Features

The company’s after-sales strategy involves close collaboration with distributors and retailers to ensure smooth and quick product replacements when necessary. This service model has helped UBON maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, with Arora noting that it has been one of the brand’s key strengths in fostering customer loyalty.

As UBON prepares to launch its upcoming line of budget TWS earbuds, the company is positioning itself to compete more effectively by combining premium features and improved quality at an affordable price point. While app support and other segment-first features are expected to be the key differentiators for UBON’s new products, the company’s commitment to customer feedback and post-purchase service will also play an important role in its success.

As Arora indicated, UBON’s focus on continuous improvement and customer-centric service is central to the company’s vision of becoming a dominant player in India’s budget TWS earbuds segment.

Exclusive: UBON Dashcams are Coming Soon

0

India’s dashcam market, while still in its infancy, is beginning to attract attention, with several players already making their mark. However, the market remains fragmented, with no dominant leader emerging as of yet. UBON, a homegrown electronics brand, is set to enter this growing space with its own range of dashcams.

“We are planning to soon launch UBON Dashcams,” Lalit Arora, co-founder of UBON India, told The Mobile Indian in a recent interview.

Arora believes that India’s dashcam market holds significant potential. “I expect the dash cam market to start growing in India, and we aim to be in the right place at the right time,” he said. However, while confident about the opportunity, Arora did not provide a specific timeline for UBON’s launch, stating that the project is still in the planning phase, alongside several other initiatives.

Arora highlighted that UBON’s dashcams would be integrated with the brand’s mobile app, allowing users to access recorded clips via cloud storage. “We are working on getting the dashcams linked to our app, so you’ll be able to access your recorded clips via the cloud on our for added convenience,” he explained. This feature could set UBON apart from its competitors by offering seamless access to footage, which is especially critical in the event of accidents or insurance claims.

UBON’s plans for the dashcam market reflect broader trends in India’s automotive sector, where rising vehicle ownership and safety concerns have driven interest in advanced accessories. As more Indian consumers become aware of the benefits of dashcams—ranging from accident documentation to monitoring driving behavior—the segment is poised for expansion.

In addition to its foray into dashcams, UBON is also working on several other projects aimed at expanding its portfolio. Arora emphasized the company’s focus on job creation, noting that UBON is encouraging unemployed youth to become entrepreneurs by selling its products. “We want to empower the country’s jobless youth to step into the world of entrepreneurship. By selling our products, they can not only support themselves but also take care of their families,” he said.

This focus on entrepreneurship aligns with UBON’s broader strategy of deepening its presence in India’s competitive consumer electronics market. The brand has made inroads with a wide range of affordable products, including audio accessories and chargers, and is now looking to add value to its offerings through innovation and enhanced features.

One of the upcoming areas UBON is targeting is the budget true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds segment. Arora hinted at plans to introduce premium features into this segment, which is currently dominated by low-cost options with limited functionality. “We are working on adding premium quality to budget earbuds, providing superior build quality over the competition and features like app support, which are lacking in the segment,” he stated.

UBON’s approach to the market—focusing on affordable yet feature-rich products—reflects a broader trend among Indian brands that aim to strike a balance between price and innovation. With a mix of strategic timing, product innovation, and social impact, UBON appears poised to carve out a niche in India’s evolving electronics landscape.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE Details have Already Begun Leaking

0

It’s been a couple of weeks since the Galaxy S24 FE launched but Samsung may have begun working on its successor already. New Galaxy S25 FE details have surfaced online, suggesting Samsung may introduce some significant changes to the device over its predecessor.

According to The Elec, Samsung plans to launch an FE version of its upcoming Galaxy S25 flagship series next year, and is currently exploring a new, slimmer design for the device. The report adds that the device may pack a 6.7-inch display. In addition, to achieve a slimmer form factor, the device may pack a thinner battery but with a larger surface area.

Another major change could be made to the Samsung will use in the device, bidding goodbye to its Exynos processor. Tipster Junkanlosreve, who previously suggested that Samsung would equip the base Galaxy S25 with a MediaTek chip, now reports that the Dimensity chip will be used in the Galaxy S25 FE instead, and not the vanilla S25.

As for the Galaxy S25 series, it is being reported that Galaxy S25 Ultra bezels are thinner than iPhone 16 Pro Max’s. The iPhone 16 Pro Max has some of the slimmest bezels on any smartphone currently available, but the Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to surpass it with bezels reportedly 0.2mm thinner than the iPhone’s.

Further, another major change is the rounded corners of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, compared to the sharper ones we have seen on previous three generations of Galaxy S-series Ultra phones. At the bottom left corner is the S-Pen slot, which is a usual for the Ultra phones from the brand.

Then at the back, the design of the camera Sensors match that of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The camera sensors appear to have the same layout as before, but the leak said that the cameras will see a slight upgrade in terms of quality.

Apple TV+ on Android is Coming But Not in the Way You Expected

0

Update 02/04/2025: Prime Video has announced the launch of Apple TV+ add-on through its service in India for an additional Rs 99 per month. Prime members who subscribe to Apple TV+ via Prime Video can stream exclusive shows and movies with new releases weekly. Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ with no extra apps to download beyond Prime Video. The subscription can be cancelled at any time.

Original Story Below

Apple TV+ is Apple’s streaming service but Apple does allow TV users to stream content via the Apple TV+ app. While it doesn’t offer an Android app on mobile, soon, you will be able to stream content via Apple TV+ on Android through the Amazon Prime video app, specifically in the US for now.

As announced by Amazon, Apple TV+ will be available via Prime Video in the US as an add-on subscription for $9.99 (approx Rs 838) per month. Prime members who subscribe to Apple TV+ via Prime Video will have access to the full catalog of the streaming service including Severance, Slow Horses, The Morning Show, Presumed Innocent, Shrinking, Hijack, Loot, Palm Royale, as well as global hit films such as Wolfs, The Instigators and more, plus Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball sporting events.

Once it becomes available later this month, Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ with no extra apps to download beyond Prime Video, and no cable required. The subscription can be canceled at any time. In other words, you’ll be able to access Apple TV+ on Android via the Prime Video app. While users were expecting an Apple TV+ app built for Android to watch content from the streaming platform, that doesn’t seem to be happening for now.

In India, Apple TV+ content will be soon accessible via Airtel’s Xstream Premium streaming service, as announced by Airtel back in August this year. This means Android users in India will be able to watch Apple TV+ content via Airtel. In addition to Apple TV+, Airtel will also provide exclusive Apple Music offers to its Wynk Premium users. Wynk Music is Airtel’s own music streaming service, and its users will now be transitioned to Apple Music, which will give them access to a wide range of global and Indian music, curated playlists, artist interviews, and Apple Music Radio.

Back in May this year, a report suggested that Apple was hiring for an engineer to help build a new TV and sports application for the Android operating system, suggesting potential launch of the Apple TV+ app on the platform. However, there has been no update on the development of the app since then.

As reported by Android Authority first, Google is now A/B testing a new video player in the YouTube for Android app. The tip publication received from a reddit user suggests that Google is making some big changes to the video player’s interface. In the new UI, the video title has been relocated above the progress bar, and the channel icon and subscriber count are now displayed alongside the channel name. The view count and published date are positioned below the title.

The expand button has been moved to the top left, with a rotate button placed next to it. It appears that the forward and backward buttons are missing in fullscreen mode, though they do show up if the video is paused while in portrait mode.

A new button to view video chapters has also been added to the bottom-left, positioned next to the second pause button.

If you are watching videos in a playlist, you can now swipe up and down to move between videos in a playlist. You can swipe down to minimize a video only if it’s the first video in a playlist or if it’s not part of a playlist at all.
