Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Gets A Price Drop In India For A Limited Time: Know Details

Sony India has announced the ‘Summer Sale’ in the country where it’ll be offering the newest PlayStation 5 Slim in the country at a discounted price. The price drop on the PlayStation 5 Slim in India will be available for a limited time and here are all the details about it.

Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Price Drop During Summer Sale

The Summer Sale from Sony will begin on May 1 and will end on May 14, during which the PlayStation 5 Slim will be available at a discounted price of Rs 49,990, down from its launch price of Rs 54,990. Note that the discount is available only for the disc version of the PS5 Slim and not the digital version.

One can avail of the offer on Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Center, Vijay Sales, and other participating retailers until stocks last. This offer will only apply to two models: CFI-2008A01 and CFI-2008B01. The regular PS5 model is also available at the same price of Rs 44,990 but it wouldn’t make sense to buy it considering the Slim version is better in every way.

Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Features

The PS5 Slim debuted in India only a month ago. It packs the same technology features as the PS5 packed into a smaller form factor, along with an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and a 1TB SSD (compared to 825GB SSD on the regular model) for more internal storage. In other words, the internal specifications of the PS5 Slim remain the same as the original PS5.

The new PS5 has been reduced in volume by more than 30%, and weight by 18% and 24% compared to the previous models. There are four separate cover panels, with the top portion in a glossy look, while the bottom remains matte. The digital edition model supports an external Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive which users can attach later on.

Realme C65 5G Vs Samsung Galaxy F15 5G: Which One Should You Buy?

0

Realme recently launched the realme C65 in the same price segment as the Galaxy F15 5G in India. Both the devices have price tags below Rs 15,000 and have unique features that may appeal to respective audiences. Here’s a comparison between the two smartphones to help you with your purchase decision.

Display

The Galaxy F15 5G gets you a 6.5-inch full-HD+ (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) Super with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The Realme C65 5G on the other hand has a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution, and a Refresh Rate of 120Hz.

Galaxy f15 5g launched

As far as specs are concerned, the Galaxy F15 5G wins it due to having an AMOLED panel that will show you more vibrant colours and should also ideally have better viewing angles. Aside from that, it also has a higher resolution which will enable a sharper image on screen. The Realme smartphone does have a higher refresh rate but we think the former two specs will result in a better overall experience on the Galaxy F15 5G.

Performance

The Galaxy F15 5G comes with an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC and a Mali G57 GPU powers the phone. It comes with a built-in storage of up to 128GB, which can be expanded to 1TB with a microSD card. The phone comes with One UI 6 pre-loaded, which is based on Android 14.

Realme C65 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC under the hood paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage which is expandable via a microSD card up to 2TB. It also runs on Realme UI 5.0 based on 14.

The Realme handset offers you a marginally better with more RAM for a cheaper price, however, the Samsung device gets you a better software experience with 4 years of OS upgrades. We’d give it a draw in this segment, considering it would depend on your preference as to which one’s more important for you, more RAM or better software.

Battery & Cameras

The Realme C65 5G packs a 5000mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging. The F15 5G on the other hand, includes a 6000mAh battery that supports 25W wired fast charging. In both the areas, including battery capacity and charging speeds, the Galaxy F15 5G proves as a better smartphone.

As for optics, the Realme C65 5G has a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor and an AI sensor. There’s an 8MP sensor on the front for selfies. The triple camera setup on the back of the Galaxy F15 5G comprises of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with 10x magnification, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel camera with a macro sensor. The front camera has a 13-megapixel sensor. The Samsung smartphone clearly wins it in the cameras segment as well, with a more practical camera setup including an ultra-wide angle sensor on the rear.

Verdict

The Realme C65 5G comes in three variants, 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 128GB priced at Rs 10,499, Rs 11,499 and Rs 12,499, respectively. The Galaxy F15 5G also comes in the same variants, priced at Rs 12,999 for the 4GB + 128GB trim, Rs 14,499 for the 6GB + 128GB model and Rs 15,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model.

Pricing-wise, surely, the Realme C65 5G may look like a more appealing more option but if you can give up on RAM, the Galaxy F15 5G is a more value-for-money offering that should serve you well for a long term.

JioCinema Reduces Subscription Prices By Rs 70: Everything You Need To Know

0

JioCinema has launched reasonably priced ad-free subscription plans in India. These plans eliminate ads from the streaming service and introduce additional features.

Prices, Features of New JioCinema Plans

The new JioCinema premium plan, which costs Rs 29 a month, will allow users to watch content ad-free, except for live shows and sports where the ads are integrated into the broadcast itself. In addition, users will be able to access all the premium content such as Hollywood movies and shows. Then, they’ll be able to up to 4K quality content on a single device and can also download and watch content of their choice at any given time.

The next plan, costing Rs 89 a month, is the family plan. This plan offers all the benefits of the premium plan mentioned above, alongside the ability to watch 4K content on up to 4 devices. The only difference between the two plans is that the family plan offers more devices.

Premium members will have exclusive access to international content dubbed in local languages, before-TV premieres, 20+ live TV channels from Viacom18, original series, and parental control features, ensuring a safe viewing environment for all family members. Sports content, including the ongoing Indian Premier League and a vast library of entertainment content, will remain free as part of JioCinema’s ad-supported model.

Technical Glitch On Jio Website

A Jio spokesperson has confirmed to The Mobile Indian that the pricing of the new plans is a part of an introductory offer, and there’s no information for how long it will run. There’s also a technical glitch on the website due to which it shows that the introductory offer will last only a month post, which will cost Rs 59 or Rs 149 a month.

“The pricing after the introductory offer ends is yet to be decided. It may increase or decrease,” added the spokesperson.

Difference Over Previous JioCinema Premium Plan

Previously, JioCinema offered two subscription plans, one for the web and one for the app. The plan on the website was available for Rs 99 a month while the mobile plan was for Rs 999 for a year. However, now, the two new plans remain the same across the website and the mobile app. Additionally, the price of the monthly basic plan has been reduced by Rs 70 (from Rs 99 to Rs 29). Still, the benefits have been added, except for one where the number of devices you can watch JioCinema on simultaneously has reduced.

Both the older JioCinema subscription plans offered the ability to watch content on any device up to 4 devices simultaneously, the highest possible video and audio quality, and the Hollywood content as well. Basically, the same benefits that the Rs 89 Family plan is now offering.

The Rs 29 plan is the newer one, which has reduced the number of devices you can use to watch JioCinema to just 1. The main feature addition in the newer JioCinema plans is the ability to watch content without any ads, which wasn’t the case before.

What’s the competition doing in the space?

JioCinema’s formation of a strategic joint venture with Viacom 18 Media Private Limited and The Walt Disney Company have allowed it to acquire rights to stream Voot content and, possibly soon, Disney+ Hotstar content. The joint venture has intensified the competition in the video streaming space, and the introduction of the new plan, which nearly costs just Rs 1/day, has further put pressure on other streaming services. The selection of content and each person’s preferences are subjective, but what we are talking about here is the number of features on offer, which is the same across services but with a huge price difference.

For instance, Netflix’s cheapest plan costs Rs 149/month and doesn’t offer the full benefits, which the most expensive Rs 649/month plan does. The expensive one offers 4K streaming, the best audio and video quality, and up to 4 screen simultaneous streaming, all of which JioCinema already offers for Rs 89/month.

JioCinema’s plans differ little in terms of features except for the number of devices you can access that account on. In Netflix’s case, the discrepancy lies in the video and audio quality, number of devices, and even supported devices.

Prime Video’s cheapest plan costs Rs 299 a month and goes up to Rs 1,499 for the Amazon Prime Yearly Plan. However, it does have a decent amount of benefits, considering you shop a lot from Amazon as well. Aside from the price difference, Amazon doesn’t offer any other differences in terms of features across all the plans for Prime Video. However, it still isn’t as cheap as subscription plans from JioCinema.

Disney+ Hotstar is the closest to JioCinema in terms of offering a cheap plan, where it provides a Rs 149 plan for a quarter that converts to about Rs 49 a month. However, the benefits offered aren’t even close, with 720p video quality, stereo audio quality, and support for only 1 device. The most premium Disney+ Hotstar plan, which offers the same level of features as JioCinema, costs either Rs 299 a month, Rs 499 for 3 months or Rs 1,499 a year, all three of which are much more expensive.

Services like SonyLIV do not even offer Dolby audio quality or 4K streaming, but cost Rs 599 yearly for the mobile-only plan and go up to Rs 999/year for the most premium plan. If we divide Rs 999 by 12, the plan would cost Rs 83 a month, which is lower than that of JioCinema, but the benefits on offer are much lower than JioCinema, which drops the overall value. Moreover, whatever plan you have, you can only watch on a maximum of 2 devices simultaneously and stay logged in on up to 5 devices.

As you can notice, JioCinema is currently offering one of the cheapest subscription plans for its streaming service, and there is ample content available to stream. How it pans out in the future once the introductory offer ends is a different story, but until then, JioCinema should offer you the most value if it has the content you want to watch.

Exclusive: Android 14 Update Roadmap For Lava Agni 2, Other Lava Devices

0

Lava Mobiles has been launching most of its recent smartphones with the 13 operating system pre-installed. The company is now gearing up to release the Android 14 update for its Lava Agni 2 5G and other smartphones in the near future. If you own a Lava smartphone, here’s when you can expect to receive the Android 14 update.

In an interview with The Mobile Indian, Lava International CEO Sunil Raina confirmed that the Lava Agni 2 5G will receive the Android 14 update in the next 2 to 3 weeks, i.e. 15 to 20 days. Raina also confirmed that the other models, such as the Lava Blaze Curve 5G and those eligible for the update, will all receive it in the next 2 to 3 months.

When asked why Lava’s latest handset, the Blaze Curve 5G, wasn’t released with Android 14 out of the box, Raina said the brand apologises to the consumers for the delay and accepts it as a mistake. As a result, the brand decided to push two major updates to the device, which will bring it up to Android 15.

Sunil also talked about how the brand isn’t focusing on building its own Android-based skin from the ground up but is instead working on features users are demanding. He confirmed that Lava is also working on its own gallery app, which we’ll soon see on future Lava smartphones. As for now, Lava will be sticking to using a slightly forked version of Android and not creating a completely new software skin.

We feel that sticking to a stock Android-based skin would be appropriate for the brand, considering it adds useful features, making it more convenient and productive for the consumer. “Our major focus as of now is how we can enhance consumer experience, and we are working on it tirelessly,” said Raina.
