Perplexity Comet Web Browser Announced

0

Perplexity Comet Web was announced by the AI company yesterday with an aim to compete with browsers like that from Google and Microsoft. “Comet is a web browser built for today’s internet. In the last 30 years, the internet has evolved from something we simply “browse” or “search.” The internet is where we live, work, and connect,” said Perplexity in a blog post.

The Perplexity Comet Web Browser was built with an idea in mind: “to let the internet do what it has been begging to do: to amplify our intelligence.” Comet can intelligently categorise your unused tabs into one single interface. “The Comet assistant removes friction with every thought, actively conducting entire browsing sessions while you focus on what matters. Ask Comet which other sites have the same bike but ship it faster. Ask Comet to compare what you’re reading to something you already read,” and the assistant will answer.

“Comet allows you to ask questions anywhere they occur to you, whether you want to understand a complex concept, find hidden connections, create new possibilities, or solve problems that have been puzzling you,” the blog post read. The company says that with Comet, “you don’t search for information—you think out loud, and Comet executes complete workflows while keeping perfect context.”

Comet is going to compete with Google’s Chrome, Apple’s Safari, Microsoft’s Edge, and more, suggesting that the company may have a hard time convincing users to use its browser in an already crowded space. Google Search holds the majority share in this space and it will be interesting to see whether Perplexity’s own Comet browser would be able to compete with the boss in this segment or fail while doing so.

OpenAI also seems to be working on its own browser and has hired former key members from the Google team. Brands like Microsoft have already integrated Copilot AI into their Edge browser which further poses a threat to the Comet assistant as Copilot is already quite a strong contender in the segment and how well it has matured over the past few months. Then there’s the AI mode and AI overviews in Google Chrome which are also at the top of their game when it comes to search,

Beginning July 9, the Perplexity Comet web browser is available to Perplexity Max subscribers. Invite-only access will roll out slowly to the waitlisted users over the summer. New users will also receive a limited number of invites to share. You can join the waitlist to request Perplexity for an invite.

Apple Vision Pro 2 in Works At Apple, Release Expected Later This Year

0

Apple Vision Pro 2 seems to be in works at Apple HQ and reportedly, the device is set to arrive later this year itself. A report has surfaced online which not only suggests the release timeline but also some of the upgrades one can expect from the upcoming AR/VR headset from Apple.

The report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says that the Apple Vision Pro 2 could get an upgraded M4 chip which will replace the three-year old M2 chip in the current device. Furthermore, the device will also get more cores for its Neural Engine.

The new headset will come with an updated strap designed to reduce neck strain and head discomfort, making it more comfortable to wear for extended periods — even though the hardware itself isn’t any lighter, the report notes. This would be a notable improvement considering the heavy weight of the Vision Pro has been a major pain point for the users.

If that wasn’t enough, Apple is working on a redesigned model for 2027 that significantly reduces the weight of the headset. The company’s plans could still change and the timing may shift, the report added.

The second generation’s minor changes are unlikely to make the headset a consumer hit, however it could push more app developers to support the technology. Later this year, Apple will roll out the headset’s new visionOS 26 operating system, which includes virtual widgets and an eye-scrolling capability, the report also stated.

More than anything, the new model is meant to keep “Apple relevant in headset market until the lighter and cheaper model — code-named N100 — will be ready in two years.”

Later this year, we are also going to have Samsung make an entrance into the segment to compete with the likes of Apple and Meta. Its own headset, codenamed Moohan, will be debuting soon, running on an OS developed closely with Google.

  • Before a meeting: Quickly catch up on communications by asking Gemini, “Summarize my last email from Emily.”
  • Planning on the fly: If you hear about an upcoming event you want to join, instantly add it to your calendar: “Add my son’s next five baseball games to my calendar.”

First Impression: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 – Lighter, Smarter and Finally More Usable

0

If you’ve ever admired the promise of Samsung foldable phones but found them a bit bulky or cumbersome, Samsung may have finally turned a corner with the Galaxy Z Fold7.

After spending time with the device ahead of its global debut, one thing is clear: this is Samsung’s most refined foldable yet and the design changes—not the specs—feel like the biggest leap forward. Here is our first impression of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Thinner, Lighter, and Genuinely More Pocketable

At 215 grams and just 8.9mm thick when folded, the Fold7 is the first device in the Fold series that truly feels close to a regular smartphone in hand. Compared to the Fold6, which already trimmed down its dimensions, the Fold7 goes even further, without compromising durability.

Fold 7 foldable display

The new Armor FlexHinge plays a key role here. It’s been re-engineered with a multi-rail structure that not only reduces the crease but also makes the entire device feel sturdier during repeated folds. When unfolded, the Fold7 measures just 4.2mm thick, thanks to a redesigned hinge and a thinner internal display reinforced with Titanium plates and 50% thicker Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG).

Simply put, this is the first time a Galaxy Fold doesn’t feel like a tech prototype. It feels ready for daily use.

A Display That Finally Makes Sense (Even When Folded)

The external 6.5-inch cover screen now adopts a 21:9 aspect ratio, making it feel less cramped and more usable for one-handed texting or casual browsing. This was a long-standing issue with earlier Folds, and Samsung has addressed it well.

The internal 8.0-inch is 11% larger than the Fold6, with peak brightness reaching 2,600 nits, making it easier to use outdoors. The extra real estate is ideal for multitasking, something Samsung is doubling down on with One 8, which enables split-screen editing, floating apps, and improved drag-and-drop functionality.

AI That Actually Enhances Daily Use

Yes, the Fold7 packs the expected Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, but what stands out more is how well it handles Samsung’s growing toolkit which is part of UI 8.

Generative Edit, Photo Assist, and Audio Eraser are now more proactive. For example, you can erase background noise or photobombers with a single tap and even get AI suggestions before you ask. These features existed in Fold6 but were more manual and less intuitive.

Fold 7 colours

The AI-enhanced multitasking also makes better use of the larger screen. You can see original and edited versions of photos side by side, or keep reference material open while working on documents—all in a single view. For creative users, this turns the Fold7 into a pocket-sized productivity studio.

Camera Takes a Serious Step Up

Samsung has brought its 200MP camera to a foldable for the first time, a big jump from the 50MP sensor in the Fold6. Combined with AI-powered image processing and Night Video, the Fold7 performs better in challenging lighting conditions and captures noticeably more detail in everyday shots, as evident in the few shots we took in the demo zone. We will need to test them in real-world situations to share more details, which will be addressed during our review.

Z fold 7 camera module

Having said that, the triple-lens setup (including 3x optical zoom) won’t rival the S25 Ultra’s versatility, but it closes the gap significantly enough that the camera no longer feels like a compromise on the Fold line.

Fewer Compromises

Battery power remains at 4,400mAh, with 25W and wireless charging support, but it appears to be the weakest link in the Fold 7.

Connectivity is up to date with 7 and 5.4, and security is enhanced through Samsung’s new KEEP system ( we have yet to test it) , which isolates sensitive data within secure storage layers.

Storage options now include up to 1TB with 16GB of RAM, and colours include Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black and an online-exclusive Mint.

First impression Samsung Galaxy Fold 7

While last year’s Galaxy Z Fold6 brought noticeable improvements, it still felt like a niche device for enthusiasts. With the Z Fold7, Samsung is clearly aiming for a broader audience that can afford it. The thinner design, practical display ratio, and AI integration finally make the foldable form factor feel less experimental and more like the future of the smartphone.

Whether that’s enough to convert traditional smartphone users remains to be seen. But for the first time, the Galaxy Fold feels like a fully realised product, not just a showcase of what could be.

First Impression Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE: Brings Samsung’s Foldables Closer to the Mainstream

0

When Samsung launched its first Galaxy Z Flip back in 2020, the appeal was mostly aesthetic—foldable nostalgia meets modern tech. Fast forward to 2025, and with the new Galaxy Z Flip7 and the more accessible Flip7 FE, it feels like the company is finally delivering on the form factor’s full potential.

The Flip7’s larger FlexWindow and the Flip7 FE’s more affordable price point aren’t just minor refinements—they address two of the most persistent criticisms of past Flip models: limited functionality when closed, and premium pricing that left mainstream users out.

Galaxy Z Flip7: The Flip Finally Feels Fully Functional

The biggest upgrade on the Z Flip7 is one you can see without even opening the phone: a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge FlexWindow. Compared to the smaller, more confined cover screen on the Flip6, the new layout feels far less like a widget strip and more like a functional second screen.

Flip 7 coral red

Typing quick replies, checking your schedule, and snapping selfies no longer feel like workaround tasks—you can do more without ever unfolding the phone. Samsung’s Vision Booster and 2,600-nit brightness make the FlexWindow readable outdoors, addressing another limitation from earlier Flip models.

Flip 7 display

The main screen also stretches slightly to 6.9 inches, adding room for immersive viewing. It’s a small bump in size, but with One 8’s improved multitasking and Galaxy AI’s multimodal integration, it gives off a more complete, smart-device experience.

Flip 7 colours

In comparison, the Flip6—with its smaller cover display and narrower software support—felt like a flip phone that happened to be smart. The Flip7 is a smart device that just happens to fold.

Flip7: Hardware Polished, Not Overhauled

Z Flip 7 rear

From a design perspective, the Flip7 hasn’t reinvented itself, but it’s noticeably more refined. The hinge is thinner and sturdier, the frame is lighter at 188g, and 2 adds protection without bulk. Combined with a 4,300mAh battery—the biggest yet in a Flip—it’s a package that feels ready for real-world, all-day use.

Flip 7 blue

Under the hood, the Exynos 2500 chip is expected to help in processing and power efficiency and new software perks like Samsung DeX support turn the Flip into a makeshift workstation. That’s a first for a flip-style foldable and a feature that nudges the Flip7 closer to Galaxy Fold territory.

Galaxy Z Flip7 FE: Finally, a Foldable That Doesn’t Break the Bank

If the Flip7 is about finishing the premium foldable formula, the Flip7 FE is about democratizing it. This isn’t a stripped-down compromise—it’s a carefully trimmed device that still delivers key foldable experiences.

Flip 7 FE front

The 6.7-inch main display is almost identical to its pricier sibling, and the 3.4-inch cover screen, although smaller and featuring a notch, remains perfectly functional for essentials. It doesn’t offer the immersive FlexWindow experience, but for users new to foldables—or simply unwilling to pay a flagship price—it delivers surprising value.

Flip 7 FE cover display

Flip7 FE’s 8GB and Exynos 2400 signal a deliberate effort to strike a balance between performance and cost. For casual users, this could be the first foldable that makes more financial sense than a slab smartphone.

Camera and AI: Smart Enough for Daily Use

Flip 7 FE colours

Both models feature the 50MP FlexCam, and while serious photography still favors the Galaxy S series, these are no slouches. AI-enhanced image processing and features like Real-Time Filters and Dual Preview elevate the selfie game, particularly on the Flip7, where the FlexWindow acts as a real-time viewfinder.

Flip 7 FE Bottom

New AI tools like Gemini Live on the cover screen feel less like gimmicks and more like integrated utilities. From setting travel reminders to grabbing dinner reservations, the voice interface—and Samsung’s new emphasis on multimodal interaction—makes the Flip feel smarter than before.

First Impression Flip7 and Flip 7 FE: A Flip for Everyone?

The Galaxy Z Flip7 doesn’t radically change what a flip phone is, but it refines nearly everything that came before it. The bigger FlexWindow alone makes the upgrade from Flip6 worth considering for users who rely on one-handed use and need more functionality without flipping open the device.

The Flip7 FE, meanwhile, marks a major step forward for affordability in the foldable space. Samsung has made flip phones more useful—and now, more accessible.

Foldables still aren’t mainstream, but for the first time, the Flip series feels like it belongs in more pockets than just those of early adopters. And that might be the biggest shift of all.
