Huawei announces new Watch GT editions, FreeLace neckbuds, FreeBuds Lite, smart glasses

Huawei has announced a slew of new products which include the Huawei Watch GT Active and Huawei Watch GT Elegant, Huawei FreeLace Neckbuds, Huawei FreeBuds Lite, Huawei Smart Glasses and the Huawei 40W SuperCharge Power Bank.

Alongside the launch of its photography-centric flagship P30 and P30 Pro smartphones, Huawei has announced a slew of new products which include new editions of Watch GT, wireless earbuds and neckbuds and a new pair of smart glasses.

Huawei Watch GT Active and Huawei Watch GT Elegant

While the Active edition comes with the same 46mm dial as the Watch GT Classic and Sport, the Elegant edition has a smaller 42mm watch face with an option to be bought with a ceramic bezel. The Watch GT Active and Watch GT Elegant feature AMOLED touchscreens of sizes 1.39-inch (454×454) and 1.2-inch (390×390) respectively.

The Active Edition has a two-week battery life with all day wear and heart rate monitoring while the Elegant edition will run shorter for just about a week with similar usage. Both watches come with a Triathlon mode for tracking outdoor cycling, running and open water swimming and will be able to record the whole session with intervals. The Watch GT Active and Watch GT Elegant will be priced at €249 (approx. Rs 19,300) and €229 (approx. Rs 17,750) respectively.

Like a lot of wireless earphones with a cable hanging around your neck, the FreeLace Neckbuds also features two earbuds with a wore connecting the two. The neckbuds can be split in such a way that the right earbud can be unhooked to reveal a USB-C plug which is the means to charge the device as well as connect it to a smartphone. The FreeLace 18 hours of battery life on a single charge and 4 hours of playback on five minutes of charge. The Huawei FreeLace will be available for €99 (approx. Rs 7,700).

Huawei also introduced the FreeBuds Lite wireless earbuds which are Huawei’s version of Apple AirPods, even to the point of the stick hanging from the exterior of the buds. The FreeBuds Lite comes with a 12-hour battery and can be carried inside a battery case. The wireless earbuds are dust and water resistant with an IPX4 certification and will be available for an asking price of €119 (approx. Rs 9,200).

Huawei has partnered with eyewear company Gentle Monster to develop its own line of smart glasses. While they look similar to traditional spectacles, Huawei’s smart glasses will come equipped with antennas, dual microphones, a speaker and a battery. The glasses will also come with a charging case which will use contactless charging for wirelessly charging the device. Huawei demoed the glasses as a device to use a digital assistant quickly and get through the day by being notified about the appointments and accepting calls.

Huawei 12,000mAh 40W SuperCharge Power Bank

At the event in Paris, Huawei also unveiled a new 12,000mAh Power Bank with 40-watt charging, making it the fastest power bank yet. The Huawei 40W SuperCharge Power Bank will be available for an asking price of €99 (approx. Rs 7,700).
