The major reason behind this could be that that Flipkart wants to capitalize on the brand image and recall value of Brand Motorola
Motorola is all set to launch a smart TV on September 16. It will be exclusively available on Flipkart because it will be the brand licensee of the soon to be launched Smart TV.
The leasing of a brand name to a company other than the owner of that particular brand is known as brand licensing. So Motorola is lending its name to the smartTV that will be sourced/manufactured/assembled by Flipkart. This business strategy in the TV segment is nothing new in India. Even Thompson and Kodak TV are sold in India through brand Licenee Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd (SSPL).
The major reason behind this could be that that Flipkart wants to capitalize on the brand image and recall value of Brand Motorola so as to gain immediate access to all the positive name and image building that went before it. On the other hand, Motorola can see an uplift in its revenue without sweating because Flipkart will take care of everything from product development to inventory management to store replenishment to advertising.
If we talk about the upcoming Motorola Smart TV. it will come with slim side bezel and there will be a dedicated large soundbar loaded with a 30W speaker. Off late India is witnessing a lot of action in TV segment as OnePlus is gearing up launch its first Smart TV and existing players like Samsung, Xiaomi, Kodak and more updating their TV portfolio.
