Xiaomi launches customer care service and more on WhatsApp in India

Xiaomi has announced its first WhatsApp-based instant update service in India. Known as Xiaomi Mi Bunny, the new service will help Mi users to receive instant updates about the company and register complaints.


The company says that through this new service it will offer “instant updates about latest Xiaomi news, new product launches, exciting product deals, sale reminders, notifications about MIUI weekly updates, and reminders about Mi Fan meetups.”



But how to subscribe this service on WhatsApp? First of all, you need to add “+917760944500” to your contact list and then text Xiaomi on the number. You will get a welcome message. After that, you need to text your Name and City as it will help the brand to notify you about Mi events in your City. Further, users can raise some customer support requests by texting ‘SUPPORT’ and follow the on-screen instructions for more details. To unsubscribe this service, text STOP.


However, it is important to note that the service is currently being beta tested and is limited to the above-mentioned functionalities. The company says that it will add more functionalities will be added soon. Interestingly, the company has also announced that no provided details will be accessed by third-party services. “We shall ensure that your name, contact number, and location will not be accessible to third-party services,” the company said in a blog post.

Meanwhile, the company has started sending out media invites for a launch event, which is scheduled to take place on February 14. The invite does not reveal the name of the smartphone to be launched but it is expected that the company might be launching the Redmi 5 in India as the invite carries number 5. 


To recall, the brand introduced the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in China in December last year. The Redmi 5 comes in two storage variants- 2GB RAM with 16GB of internal storage variant is priced at 799 Yuan, which is approximately Rs 7,795 and for 3GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage version one has to pay 899 Yuan (approximately Rs 8,770).
