Vodafone introduces R217 4G MiFi device to compete with Reliance JioFi

The device supports 800/900/1800/2100 Mhz bands for LTE connection, and 900/1800 Mhz bands for GSM. For security, the MiFi device uses WPS authentication besides the standard password protection. Users can also keep a track of the WiFi usage with the help of a Hotspot Monitoring application.

Vodafone has announced a new MiFi router for its users, dubbed as R217 MiFi. The 4G dongle comes with some interesting features, though the price is not known at the moment.

The new device can connect up to 15 users simultaneously for getting access to WiFi. Further, the brand claims that it can give a download speeds up to 150Mbps, reports TelecomTalk. The new MiFi device comeswith a portable form factor measuring 87.6 x 59.6 x 12.9mm and weighing 78 grams.

The device supports 800/900/1800/2100 bands for connection, and 900/1800 Mhz bands for GSM. For security, the MiFi device uses WPS authentication besides the standard password protection. Users can also keep a track of the WiFi usage with the help of a Hotspot Monitoring application.The device features an intuitive plug-and-play web user interface. On the battery front, it features 1800mAh battery and it also sport card slot, which can up to 32GB memory card.

With this, the new MiFi device is all set to give a stiff competition to Reliance JioFi device. The WiFi device comes with a price tag of Rs 999. Interestingly, the Jio recently offered Rs 500 cashback on its device, which brings down the cost. The cashback is transferred in the form of credit which will be automatically credited in the postpaid plan. So effectively, the cashback brings down the price of the JioFi for Rs 499 only.

The MiFi device allows you to make Volte calls, connect up to 10 devices and download speed up to 150Mbps and upload speed up to 50 Mbps. The hotspot dongle comes with a battery capacity of 2300mAh and can be connected up to 10 devices.
