The Japanese automobile manufacturer, Toyota has finally unveiled the price of its mid-size sedan, Yaris. It starts from Rs8.75 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes all the way up to Rs 14.07 lakh (ex-showroom).The car will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City in the Indian market. The sedan was showcased earlier this year at the Auto Expo
Concerning specification, the Toyota Yaris(Picture Gallery) will offer a 1497cc capacity of 1.5-litre VVT-i, 4 cylinder petrol engine which will generate 109 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm with peak torque of 140 Nm at 4,200 rpm. It has a 6-speed manual and 7-step CVT (automatic) gearbox, with the claimed mileage of 21 kmpl. Currently, the sedan is only available in the petrol engine variant, but later the brand is expected to offer a 1.4-liter diesel trim as well.
As far as safety is concerned, the Yaris comes with seven SRS airbags in all variants, which will include side airbags, Curtain Shield Airbags (CSA) and knee airbag. Further, it will have Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force) distribution, Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Vehicle Stability Control, Front & Rear Parking Sensors, All 4-Wheel Disc Brakes.
The car will ride on the 16-inch wheels and at the front, it will have the daytime running LED headlights with Fox light at the bottom. Inside the cabin, the steering wheel will have mounted audio controls and auto air-conditioning with the roof mounted air vents with ambient illumination for rear passengers.
It will have a High Solar Energy-Absorbing (HSEA), IR cut, Acoustic and Vibration Control Glass for Windshield and Doors for the quieter cabin. It gets a 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display and 7-inch touch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, GPS and Navigation.
As far as dimensions are concerned, the Yaris measures 4,425mm in length, 1,730mm in width and 1,475mm in height with the wheelbase of 2,550mm.
