Micromax recently launched its first tablet under the Canvas series, called Canvas Tab P650, for Rs 16,500. But at the same price point, Samsung had some time back announced its Tab 3 T211.
Thus we have decided to compare these two tablets on the basis of their specifications.
Design and Display:
The Micromax Canvas tablet comes with an 8 inch display as compared to 7 inch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211. Though Micromax has not revealed the exact weight of the tablet, but considering its big display, I expect the Canvas Tab P650 to be much heavier than the Galaxy Tab 2 T211 which measures 304 grams. However, the Canvas tablet is much slimmer (9.6 mm) than the Galaxy Tab 3 T211 (9.9 mm).
Also, though the display of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 has 1024×600 pixels resolution which is a bit lower than 1024×768 pixels resolution, you should also remember that the Samsung tablet has a 7 inch screen against 8 inch display of the Micromax tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Of course it has Samsung’s own TouchWiz user interface which has been hailed for its simplicity and usefulness. The Micromax Canvas Tab comes with even better Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Both though have 1 GB RAM.
Though the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211’s 1.2 GHz dual core processor looks very pale in front of 1.2 GHz quad core processor of Micromax Canvas Tab P650, but our experience with Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T311 tells us that one should not mere look at just figures.
But for the time being, as per figures, the Micromax Canvas tablet seems to have an edge over the Samsung tablet.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 comes with 8 GB of internal storage and 32 GB of micro SD card slot. On the other hand, the Micromax Canvas tablet comes with 16 GB ROM (11 GB available for users) and 32 GB expandable storage slot.
Both the tablets come with single SIM connectivity using which you can connect to a 3G network. Both also come with Bluetooth, micro USB, and WiFi. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 also has DLNA. The Samsung tablet also has GLONASS along with GPS while the Micromax Canvas tablet too has GPS.
In this department also, the Micromax Canvas tablet looks much better than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 with its 5 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front camera. According to Micromax, the Canvas tablet can record videos at 30 frames per second and 4x zooming capability.
In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 looks a bit pale with its 3 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front camera.
The Micromax Canvas Tab P650 comes with a huge 4800 mAh battery which said to provide 400 hours of standby and 10 hours of talktime. Such a description is highly vague.
On the other hand, though the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 has a smaller 4000 mAh battery it said to provide 20 hours of 3G talktime -double than what the Micromax Canvas tablet promises.
As per the above figures, the Micromax Canvas Tab P650 looks a better tablet than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 with its quad core processor, higher internal memory, and bigger camera. However, in the past Samsung’s devices, like the Galaxy Tab 3 T311, delivered better results despite their poor figures on paper.
