Reliance Jio may launch 4G by Sept: Report

The services will first be launched in Delhi and Mumbai.

Reliance Jio, which has license for all circles in India, is now expected to launch services by September this year, Business Today has reported quoting its sources. It further added that the services will first be launched in Delhi and Mumbai which is quite expected as these two cities come at the top for data consumption.

“Reliance Jio is engaged in building up team for telecom services which is almost done. Telecom services are likely to be launched in third quarter of 2014 i.e. July-September period starting from Delhi and Mumbai,” the source who was privy of the development was quoted as saying by the news website.

Earlier, Reliance Jio told The Mobile Indian that it would 4G services with upto 49 speed, which is about 12 times faster than that of 3G.

Meanwhile earlier this month, Airtel – which is the lone operator in the country with a commercial 4G services in the country – has announced the roll out of 4G services for mobile phones. Earlier, Airtel was offering 4G services via dongle only. So now, handsets with support for 2300 of 4G can now avail 4G data services. According to Airtel, iPhone5c and 5s have been tested on the Airtel’s 4G network. Xolo’s LT900 and Gionee Elife E7 too come with support for the same 4G band for Airtel has not said anything on the same.

Note that Reliance Jio too has sometime back received the unified license which grants it the permission to offer voice services over 4G networks.
