Nokia X5 launch event cancelled at the last moment

Nokia X5 features a 5.86-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor.

HMD Global was all set to launch Nokia X5 on July 11 but the launch event was cancelled by the company at the last moment. HMD Global announced this development on its official Weibo (Chinese microblogging website) handle.

The company has however not exactly revealed the reason behind the cancellation of Nokia X5 but as per their post on Weibo, it can be said that the launch event has been delayed due to the issues related to the venue of the event.

HMD Global has not announced any new date for the launch date of the Nokia X5. It is now expected that the company will make a fresh announcement regarding the launch in the coming days. Stay tuned to our website as we will update you regarding any further developments.

Nokia X5 will be launched globally as Nokia 5.1 Plus later just like Nokia X6 that will be launched globally as Nokia 6.1 Plus. As per recent renders, Nokia X5 will sport a notched display on the front and it will come with 19:9 aspect ratio. There will be thin bezels on the side and a chin with the Nokia branding. On the rear, the Nokia X5 features a dual camera setup which is vertically aligned with flash below it and a fingerprint sensor located in the center.

As far as the variants are concerned, Nokia X5 will come in two variants – 32GB and 64GB priced at 799 Yuan which is approximately Rs 8,290 and 999 Yuan which is approximately Rs 10,360 respectively. The earlier leaked poster confirmed the notched design display in the smartphone.

Nokia X5 with model number TA-1109 was earlier spotted on Chinese regulatory site, TENAA, revealing some key specifications. As per the TENAA listing, the smartphone features a 5.86-inch display with a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor. The Nokia 5.1 Plus or X5 will be available in different memory configurations including 3GB and 32GB of storage option, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage and a 6GB of RAM with 64GB storage. The memory can be further expanded up to 128GB via micro card slot.

On the camera front, there is a dual-camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary and a secondary lens, which might be used to bokeh effect. For the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera for video calling and selfies. The phone is backed by a 3000mAh battery and on the connectivity front, it supports VoLTE, 4.2, WiFi, and dual-SIM. The phone measures 149.51 x 71.98 x 8mm and weighs 160 grams.
