HMD Global has already confirmed that the company will be holding a launch event on July 11 in China at 8 pm local time (5:30 pm IST). HMD Global is expected to be launching Nokia X5 smartphone a.k.a Nokia 5.1 Plus at the launch event. Nokia X5 will be launched globally as Nokia 5.1 Plus later just like Nokia X6 that will be launched globally as Nokia 6.1 Plus.
Now ahead of the launch tomorrow, press renders of the Nokia X5 have surfaced online. The renders have appeared on Chinese website, Baidu in a dark blue colour. As per the renders, Nokia X5 will sport a notched display on the front and it will come with 19:9 aspect ratio. There are thin bezels on the side and a chin with the Nokia branding. On the rear, the Nokia X5 features a dual camera setup which is vertically aligned with LED flash below it and a fingerprint sensor located in the center. There is also an Audio Jack at the top of the phone and a USB port at the bottom.
As far as the variants are concerned, Nokia X5 will come in two variants – 32GB and 64GB priced at 799 Yuan which is approximately Rs 8,290 and 999 Yuan which is approximately Rs 10,360 respectively. The earlier leaked poster confirmed the notched design display in the smartphone.
As per a recent post on Baidu, the company might announce two other smartphones – one featuring Snapdragon 710 SoC and other with flagship Snapdragon 845 processor. The SD710 phone might be the successor of the Nokia 7 plus and will be unveiled either in Autumn or Winter. The report said it might be announced at the end of September. The other phone with Snapdragon 845 Processor is expected to come with an in-display fingerprint. It is said to be launched sometime by the end of Q3, probably August.
Nokia X5 with model number TA-1109 was earlier spotted on Chinese regulatory site, TENAA, revealing some key specifications. As per the TENAA listing, the smartphone features a 5.86-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor. The Nokia 5.1 Plus or X5 will be available in different memory configurations including 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage option, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage and a 6GB of RAM with 64GB storage. The memory can be further expanded up to 128GB via micro SD card slot.
On the camera front, there is a dual-camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary and a secondary lens, which might be used to bokeh effect. For the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera for video calling and selfies. The phone is backed by a 3000mAh battery and on the connectivity front, it supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, GPS and dual-SIM. The phone measures 149.51 x 71.98 x 8mm and weighs 160 grams.
