LG announces new Soundbar range with Google Assistant support, Dolby Atmos

LG has been working closely with Meridian to improve sound quality across its audio portfolio and is thus extending its evolving technology to three soundbars - the SL10YG, SL9YG and SL8YG. The new line of sound bars offer AI smart connectivity and voice recognition with the built-in Google Assistant.

Just days after introducing the CineBeam Laser 4K Projector, LG Electronics has announced its latest Soundbars range made in collaboration with Meridian Audio. The new range of soundbars namely the SL10YG, SL9YG and SL8YG will come with support for Google Assistant and Dolby Atmos and will be on display at the CES 2019 event in Las Vegas.

LG has been working closely with Meridian to improve sound quality across its audio portfolio and is thus extending its evolving technology to three soundbars – the SL10YG, SL9YG and SL8YG. The soundbars are equipped with Meridian’s Bass & Space technology which enhances the soundstage and envelops listeners in rich, uncompromising sound and strong bass. This, in addition to Meridian’s Image Elevation technology, will lift the soundstage to boost listeners’ sense of immersion and deliver a powerful surround sound.

Meridian will also be providing the LG soundbars with an Upmix technology that increases sound immersion by improving the sound field, thus highlighting the clarity of vocals and lead instruments. The soundbars also offer support for both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, enabling users to enjoy surround sound from multiple directions and depths. The soundbars are integrated with a gyroscope sensor that gauges the position of the product and thus adjusts the sound directionality to guarantee an optimal listening experience.

LG 2019 Soundbars

LG’s new line of sound bars offer AI smart connectivity and voice recognition with the built-in Google Assistant. Users can control their LG sound bar and get information with a simple command such as, “Hey Google, increase the volume,” or, “Hey Google, what artist is playing?” This further helps in offering compatibility with Google Assistant-enabled smart home products which mean users can turn their home appliances on by asking the soundbar to the same.

Speaking about their latest development, LG Home Entertainment Head, Kim Dae-Chul said “LG’s 2019 sound bars deliver amazing performance tuned in close partnership with Meridian Audio with the convenience of smart AI connectivity. The high-quality sound and versatility of our newest lineup takes home entertainment to a whole new level and satisfies a growing demand for premium soundbar solutions that provide impressive listening experiences, greater convenience and stylish, modern aesthetics”.

The LG SL10YG, SL9YG and SL8YG Soundbars will be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 in Las Vegas.
