Idea 3G tariffs reduced by 70%

After Airtel, Idea has formally reduced its 3G data prices buy upto 70 per cent.

After Airtel, Idea Cellular has now slashed its data prices by up to 70 per cent. Idea prepaid and postpaid customers will now pay 3 paisa per 10 of data, a reduction of 70 per cent from the earlier levels of 10 paisa 10 KB. To cater to different consumer segments, Idea has also launched its new pricing in sachet packs, regular packs and unlimited packs.

Idea’s new sachet pack of Rs 10 will now offer 30 minutes of high speed internet surfing. Idea has also unveiled “HERO-25” a new sachet pack which will give 100 data with three days validity at just Rs 25.

“I am confident that new prices will generate a lot of trial and will drive off take. Our new sachet packs of Rs 10 and HERO-25 are aimed at youngsters who will access high speed internet on-the-go without worrying about the expense” said Sashi Shankar, chief marketing officer, Idea Cellular.

The price changes are applicable for mobile phones and data card users.Unlike earlier, Rs 100 will buy 300 MB of 3G data for both prepaid and postpaid Idea users. While Rs 250, Rs 350 and Rs 450 3G packs will give Idea prepaid users 1 GB, 1.5 and 2 GB of data respectively, all with validity of 30 days.

There is an unlimited plan of Rs 950 which provides 6 GB of 3G data at a speed of 21 Mbps. After crossing the limit of 6 GB, the speed will drop to 128 Kbps. It has a validity of 30 days.

Idea has introduced three long validity plans as well for its prepaid 3G users. The Rs 599, Rs 850 now will give Idea 3G prepaid users 2 GB and 3 GB of data respectively, for 60 days. There is a Rs 1,250 plan as well that would provide 4 GB of data for 90 days.
