Through this new feature, users will be able to get a real-time update when they are on a transit journey.

Google is reportedly planning to add real-time notifications on transit mode pretty soon. Through this new feature, users will be able to get a real-time update when they are on a transit journey.

According to a report by TechCrunch, users will get updates on the Google Maps app, similar to what we have seen in the driving mode. Further, the Maps will have live guidance and one will be able to start and end the transit journey. Users can search for the destination they want to go and then tap ‘start’ button at the bottom of the screen. This will give details about the journey and one will updates as they walk or ride on local buses and trains, the report adds.

Interestingly, the feature will also remind the users to get off the bus or train as they get close to their destination. Further, users will get notifications on the lock screen, just like they get it when they are in driving mode. This would be a handy feature for those who want to explore new places or want to know the fastest route information of public transport before planning their journey.

Google has already introduced a new motorcycle mode in Maps in India. With this option, the two-wheeler drivers will be able to know the best suitable route and more accurate time to reach their destination.
