Just days after introducing the Vivosmart 4 with pulse oxygen sensor for Rs 12,990, Garmin has announced that it’s expanding its Forerunner smartwatch lineup with the launch of the Forerunner 45 , Forerunner 45S , Forerunner 245 , Forerunner 245 Music and Forerunner 945. All five smartwatches will be enabled with GPS as well as fitness tracking.
Garmin Forerunner 945
The most expensive of the line is Garmin's latest Forerunner 945 which sells for $599.99 (approx. Rs 41,750) and features preloaded streaming services and can hold up to 1,000 songs locally. The watch will come with Garmin Pay support, two weeks of battery when used in smartwatch mode, 36 hours in GPS mode and 10 hours in GPS mode with music. Additionally, the watch offers onboard maps support, Pulse oximeter metrics for hiking, VO2 max heat and altitude adjustment and incident detection.
Garmin Forerunner 245, Forerunner 245 Music
Offering similar features as the Forerunner 945, the Garmin Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 245 Music provide performance monitoring tools like VO2 max and training status with adjustments for heat, recovery time and aerobic and anaerobic training effects.
The watches can track a runner’s well-being, including a wrist-based Pulse Ox sensor which helps gauge how oxygen is being absorbed. Both wearables can last for up to 7 days on a single charge normally with up to 24 hours in GPS mode and up to 6 hours in GPS mode with music. The Forerunner 245 Music will additionally provide up to 500 songs to be stored locally.
The Garmin Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 245 Music will be available for asking prices of $299.99 (approx. Rs 21,000) and $349.99 (approx. Rs 24,400).
Garmin Forerunner 45, Forerunner 45S
The cheapest of the new Forerunner series are the Garmin Forerunner 45 and Forerunner 45S which offer users heart-rate monitoring and built-in GPS to keep track of pace, distance, intervals and more. The watches feature all-day stress monitoring, Body Battery energy monitoring and will record efforts during a cycling workout, on the elliptical, while doing cardio and yoga. The Forerunner 45 series features up to 7 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 13 hours in GPS mode.
The Forerunner 45 and Forerunner 45S will sell for an asking price of $199.99 (approx Rs 13,900).
