While we await its March 25 event in Cupertino, California, Apple has made a product launch with not much fanfare and this time it’s for the launch of the 10.5-inch iPad Air and the 7.9-inch iPad Mini which will be available for starting prices of Rs 44,900 and Rs 34,900 in India.
The iPad Air offers a 10.5-inch Retina display with P3 Color Gamut and a resolution of 2224 x 1668 pixels. The tablet is powered by the latest Apple A12 Bionic 7nm chip with a 64-bit architecture, M12 motion co-processor and up to 256GB storage. It offers a 30.2 W-hr battery offering up to 10 hours of usage on a single charge. The iPad Air measures at 250.6x 174.1x 6.1mm and weighs in at a maximum of 464 grams for the 4G model (456g for the WiFi-only variant).
The iPad Mini features a smaller 7.9-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, 500 nits brightness and 326 PPI. It’s also powered by an Octa-Core A12 Bionic 7nm chip with 64-bit architecture, M12 motion co-processor and up to 256GB of storage. It weighs in at a little over 300 grams and measures at 203.2x 134.8x 6.1mm. It houses a smaller 19.1 W-hr battery which offers up to 10 hours of usage on a single charge.
Both iPads run on iOS 12 and offer an 8MP camera with a Hybrid IR filter, 5P lens and f/2.4 aperture for the rear camera and a 7MP front-facing FaceTime HD camera. It features Touch ID for authentication, Dual microphones for calls and Stereo speakers. Connectivity options in both include Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and 4G LTE. The iPad mini and iPad Air both will be available in Gold, Silver and Space Trap colour options.
The iPad Air withWiFi + Cellular will start for a price of Rs 55,900 while the WiFi-only variant starts at Rs44,900. The iPad Mini starts at Rs34,900 for the base WiFi-only model and Rs45,900 for theWiFi + Cellular model. The iPad Air can be paired with a Smart Keyboard for Rs 3,500 and the 1st gen Apple Pencil for Rs 8,500. Smart Covers for the iPad mini and iPad Air will be available for Rs 3,500 and Rs 3,700 respectively.
