A month after launching the Fire 7 Kids Edition alongside the standard Fire 7 tablet, Amazon has now introduced another child-friendly to its catalogue with the launch of the Echo Dot Kids Edition. The successor to last year’s Echo Dot Kids comes with a design of the third-gen Echo Dot speaker, coupled with bright colours on the outside. The 2019 Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition will be available for an introductory price of $49.99 (approx. Rs 3,500).
The new Echo Dot Kids Edition will be 70 percent louder than its predecessor and comes with a year’s worth of Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited service. FreeTime Unlimited will bring a slew of kid-friendly content including age-appropriate Audible titles, premium skills from Disney, Sony and podcasts.
There are also two new FreeTime features. One is a kid-friendly flash briefing which offers the latest news from News-O-Matic and National Geographic, interesting facts as well as the Word of the day. Parents will be able to control the news and updates of the Flash Briefing through the Parent Dashboard. Another feature is the Alexa Skill Blueprints which allows users to create their own adventure using more than ten preset templates.
The newest Echo Dot Kids Edition comes with the form factor of the third-gen Echo Dot speaker and a fabric outer cover which is available in Rainbow and Blue colours. The Kids Edition 2019 will not come with a protective case like last year’s unit.
Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition is available with a two-year breakage guarantee for a price of $69.99 (approx. Rs 4,900). The device can, however, be purchased for an introductory price of $49.99 (approx. Rs 3,500).
