All new Maruti Suzuki WagonR spotted being driven in Delhi-NCR

The car is expected to debut in the third quarter later this year at a price tag of Rs 4.50 - 5.50 lakh.

After unveiling the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift at the Auto Expo 2018,Maruti Suzuki is all set is all set to launch the new generation WagonR hatchback in the Indian market. The car is expected to debut in the third quarter later this year at a price tag of Rs 4.50 – 5.50 lakh.

According to a report by Rushlane, the WagonR is based on the HEARTECT platform, which will allow the makers to shed some kilos for more agile movement . For those who don’t know, the HEARTECT was first introduced in Desire and later in 2018 Swift. It is an upgraded version of the B platform, which currently supports the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

The new hatchback seems to follow the same measurements of the current WagonR, however, with the shorter looking bonnet we expect the car to be spacious and with more legroom inside. Maintaining the tall boy body language,it comes with tail lights and big bulky headlamps.

Further, the machine will get the SRS Airbags and ABS as the standard safety feature. On the inside, the car is expected to come with a new dashboard, touchscreen infotainment and steering mounted controls for volume, call and more.

The specifications of the new 2018 hatchback are still unknown, but we expect an upgrade to the current 998cc engine for better performance and fuel efficiency. At present, the WagonR is powered by a 1.0-liter, 3 cylinder petrol engine which produces maximum power of 67 bhp at 6500 rpm and peak torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. It is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
