Airtel has slashed the prices of its set-top boxes in India to give a stiff competition to the likes of Tata Sky, Dish TV and more. The company has slashed the price of its HD set-top box and SD set-top box.
The HD set-top box now comes with a price tag of Rs 1,300, while the SD set-top box is priced at Rs 1,100. The former was earlier priced at Rs 1,800, suggesting a Rs 500 price cut. Meanwhile, the SD set-top box was earlier priced at Rs 1,650, reflecting a price cut of Rs 550. Interestingly, it is also selling the Xstream Box for Rs 3639 on its official website.
Back in July, Tata Sky also reduced the prices of its HD and SD set-top boxes in India. the Tata Sky SD is now available at a price point of Rs 1,399, against its original price of Rs 1,499. The Tata Sky HD is now priced at Rs 1,499 against its original price of Rs 1,699.
DishTV is offering its DishNXT HD set-top box for Rs 1,590, while the standard DishNXT set-top box is priced at Rs 1,490. Interestingly, Videocon d2H HD set-top box is priced at Rs 2,220, while the HD RF set-top box is priced at Rs 2,320.
Meanwhile, Airtel Payments Bank announced its partnership with HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company. Together they have launched Mosquito Diseases Protection Policy (MDPP) at Rs 99 per annum. The policy provides cover against seven common mosquito-borne diseases.
Mosquito Disease Protection Policy offers cover against seven common mosquito-borne diseases – Dengue, Malaria, Chikungunya, Japanese Encephalitis, Kala-azar, Lymphatic Filariasis (Elephantiasis) and Zika virus. The product, which is a part of the ‘Wallet Insurance Portfolio’ of HDFC ERGO, will be offered to the remittance customers of Airtel Payments Bank at a nominal cost of Rs 99 per annum.
