Bharti Airtel has announced that its users will now be able to experience a ‘truly unlimited’ data on prepaid packs starting from Rs 199. The company has revealed that it will now offer 128Kbps of data speed, after the FUP (Fair Usage Policy) limit is over, taking directly on BSNL and Reliance Jio.
Airtel subscribers who have opted for unlimited prepaid plans are eligible for the post FUP data speed of 128Kbps, reports TelecomTalk. So, for example, if a user has recharged Rs 199 plan, he/she gets a 1.4GB of data per day. Previously, whenever the daily limit was over, users have to either wait for midnight to refill the data or need to make an additional recharge.
But with the post 128Kbps speed, users will be able to do basic tasks like receiving WhatsApp messages and more. However, it is important to note that the post FUP speed is only applicable on packs that comes with daily data limits.
With this, Airtel becomes the third telecom operator to introduce post FUP speed. As of now, only Reliance Jio and BSNL were the operators that were offering post FUP speed. Reliance Jio started with 128Kbps speed once the data limit was over, though recently it has reduced it to 64Kbps. Similarly, BSNL is currently offering 128Kbps speed once the FUP limit is over. Vodafone and Idea Cellular do not have any post FUP speed, but seeing the trend, they might bring it soon.
