According to some recent reports by users, Whatsapp has started rolling out a new update which offers an option to leave a voice message when the person doesn’t answer the Whatsapp call. A call back feature has also been added. Currently, the update is available on iOS platform only but it’s likely to come on Android soon.
When a call is not answered, users will get three options; Cancel, Call Again and Voice Message. If you do not wish to continue, you select cancel. If you want to try calling back again, you select the ‘Call Back’ option or you can leave a voice message by selecting the ‘Voice Message’ option. Users will need to hold the voice message option to record their message and release to send it to the selected contacts. The voice message will appear similar to the voice notes earlier introduced in the chat menu.
Interestingly, this feature was expected ever since the Facebook owned company introduced the Voice Calling feature. There are still many countries where Whatsapp Call feature has been banned and unfortunately there won’t be any voice message option as well.
Earlier this year, the chat messenger introduced several new features like the ability to use quotes and the encryption update. In future, it is also rumoured that Whatsapp will introduce new fonts to the chatting platform after introducing a secret font in previous updates. In order to use the secret font, one has to type “` before and after the sentence.
Introduction of ‘GIFs’ has also been reported recently. Apart from this Whatsapp dropped the video calling option after testing it in beta version of the app. Well, it was a good decision as right now, Skype has been really the most used app for video calling.
