WhatsApp, a company owned by Facebook, has released the latest Beta v2.17.340 update for Android users and with this users will now have granularcontrol to clean up the phone’s storage. The Beta version offers Storage Management section into the settings menu, which allows users to mass delete specific type of message (text, audio, video and more) from the conversation while saving other.
The particular feature was introduced earlier this year in January for iOS and was missing in Android since then. But with the Beta update, the new feature will be available for Android as well. Earlier, storage usage screen only let users see WhatsApp groups or chats that uses most of the space. However, to clear the storage one have to open the specific chat to clear it.
The new feature can be accessed by tapping on the Setting>Data>Storage Usage and one will find the granular control where one will find the list of conversation, ranked according to the storage usage they are taking on the phone. By selecting the particular conversation, the consumed storage will break down in different tiles of texts, images, GIFs, videos, audio, documents, locations, contacts. After selecting single or multiple types of content, one can easily clear the data.
