WhatsApp Android Beta Update Hints Coloured Text Status

Users can chose to add emojis or select fonts or even change the background colour.

WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature which is like Facebook’s colour text status. WhatsApp in an update (version 2.17.291) for beta testers only showcased colourful status messages. The update is available for limited users now and could be rolled publicly later. WhatsApp could a “floating pencil button” above the camera icon under the Status tab. Users can choose to add emojis or select fonts or even change the background colour. To post the status update, users would further require hitting the green button.

The Facebook-owned service had recently announced that it has crossed 1 billion daily active users. WhatsApp had reached one billion monthly active users milestone last year. WhatsApp had earlier rolled out a new feature through which users can send any type of files through the messaging application. The brand has also introduced new media bundling feature along with some various design improvements for voice and video calls.

Starting with file transfer, users can send any type of files to other users through this feature. All you need to do is open and tap attachment to send the said documents. Earlier, the brand allowed users to send and receive different docs files and PDF, but now users can also send different files like ‘.apk’ file etc.

WhatsApp is also reportedly working in a picture-in-picture mode for video calling for O. The update will be available for WhatsApp beta Android version 2.17.265 and it might be available for smartphones that will run on the upcoming Android O update.
