It was a wonderful week for the Indian smartphone industry. Coincidentally, it also saw a resurgent Micromax announcing not one or two but 15 phones. There were many other notable launches as well. Read on to find out more.
Both these phones were launched at Rs 13,999. Canvas 6 Pro has already been made available for prebooking from today itself while the Canvas 6’s prebooking will start within a week. Note that they will be available from Micromax’s own e-store.
Micromax has also announced few other phones, namely – Bolt Supreme, Bolt Supreme 2, Canvas Spark 3, Canvas Spark 2+, Canvas Evok, Canvas Mega 2, Bolt Q381 and Canvas Unite 4. However, Micromax has not revealed the price and availability details of any of these phones.
The Micromax Canvas 6 and 6 Pro are equipped with 5.5 display that comes with FHD (1920×1080 pixels) resolution. They are also armed with the same 3000 mAh battery.
However, the Canvas 6 Pro has 4 GB RAM while the Canvas 6 has 3 GB RAM. Both have 13 megapixel rear cameras but the Canvas 6 has an 8 megapixel front camera compared to a 5 megapixel unit of 6 Pro. The Canvas 6 has a metal unibody and a fingerprint scanner but the Canvas 6 Pro has a plastic body and it does not have a fingerprint scanner. The Canvas 6 Pro has the 2 GHz Mediatek Helio octa core processor.
Huawei Smartwatch
Huawei launched its second smartwatch in India at Rs 22,999 earlier this week. The watch features a fully circular 1.4-inch touch-sensitive AMOLED display, coated in scratch-proof sapphire crystal, a cold-forged stainless steel frame, and comes with a built-in heart rate monitor and 6-Axis motion sensors. It has a 400 x 400 pixels Resolution in 286 ppi at a 10,000:1 high contrast ratio, making it the most vibrant Android Wear smart watch to date.
As per Huawei, its 6-Axis motion sensor, gyroscope and accelerometer, helps to track user’s activities anywhere, any time, and can distinguish between different physical activities, including walking, running and climbing.
The Huawei watch, powered by Android Wear, offers instant alerts for calls, texts, instant messages and emails. It comes with Bluetooth connectivity for wireless Headphone usage and offline music download support. Music can be started via voice commands, with users able to search for destinations and navigate their way there using the same voice actions. It has also ‘Find My Phone’ feature to locate missing phones. It can be used with both Android and iOS devices.
Though Lenovo Phab was showcased last year itself, it was launched in the Indian market only this passing week.
Priced at Rs 11,999, the Lenovo Phab comes with a huge 6.98 inch IPS display that has high definition resolution. It has 1 GB of RAM, a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, 16 GB Internal Memory and a 64 GB micro SD card slot.
The Phab has a 4250 mAh battery that claims to offer talktime of 24 hours. This 4G smartphone has dual Band WiFi (a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with GLONASS. The Lenovo Phab has a 13 megapixel auto focus rear camera that comes with flash light support. For selfies, it comes with a 5 megapixel front camera.
The Lenovo Phab comes in Tuxedo Black, Polar White, Aqua Blue or Cherry Red. It has dimension of 97 mm x 8.9 mm x 186 mm and weighs 250 grams. It comes with Dolby Atmos sound technology as well.
Another notable launch this week is the Creo Mark 1. This is the first smartphone of the company, Creo which is based in Bengaluru. The phone got so much attention because Creo assures regular software updates each month for the phone.
Creo Mark 1 has a 5.5 inch display that has Quad HD resolution, thus offering huge Pixel density of 534 ppi, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It has a 21 megapixel rear camera, and an 8 megapixel front camera. The rear camera comes with Sony Exmor sensor, phase detection auto focus, 4K video recording ability, slow motion video recording ability at 120 FPS and dual tone flash light support. The front camera can record full HD videos and has 86 degree field of view.
The Creo Mark 1 comes with Android operating system based Fuel OS. It has a 3100 mAh battery that comes with Fast charging facility. The phone has 32 GB of internal storage which can be expanded through its expandable storage slot to up to 128 GB. It is powered by the Mediatek Helio X10 Tru-octa core Processor that has clock speed of 1.95 GHz.
The Creo Mark 1 has two SIM card slots and it offers 4G connectivity as well. It has an octa core processor and 3 GB LPDDR3 RAM. It has a dimension of 155.4 x 76.1 x 8.7 mm and it weighs 190 grams. The phone comes in gun metal black colour. It has two microphones for noise cancellation.
Besides, the Creo Mark 1 has Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS and Beidou, and WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac). The phone comes with Micro USB 2.0 port with OTG feature, G sensor, L sensor, hall sensor, p sensor, gyroscope, and FM receiver.
Videocon Krypton V50DA, Krypton V50DC
Videocon Krypton V50DA and Videocon Krypton V50DC smartphones were launched for Rs 5,999 and Rs 6,099 respectively.
Videocon Krypton V50DA features a 5-inch WVGA Capacitive IPS Screen. It comes with latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8GB ROM.
The device features a 5 megapixel auto-focus rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera This 3G phone has a big 3000 mAh battery.
The Videocon Krypton V50DC is equipped with an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. It is based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and a 1.3 GHz quad core processor. The Krypton V50DC comes with a 5-inch FWVGA capacitive IPS screen.
It is backed with a 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. It too has a 3000 mAh battery.

Gionee Pioneer P5L
It got launched earlier this week quietly at Rs 8,499 and is available from Gionee’s official website. The Pioneer P5L comes in red, white, black, blue, yellow & golden colours.
The Gionee Pioneer P5L features a 5-inch HD (1280x720p) IPS Oncell display. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, which is paired with 1GB RAM. It has 16GB internal memory which can be boosted up-to 128GB through a micro SD card. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) operating system and has a customised interface – Amigo 3.1.
The Pioneer P5L has a 2300 mAh Li-Ion polymer battery, which claims to offer up-to 9 hours (3G) of talktime, up-to 12 hours of VoLTE Talk Time, and up-to 300 hours (3G) of standby time. The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. The camera has Geo-Tagging, Professional, Night, Scan, GIF, Panorama, HDR, Face Beauty, and Pic Note features.
Further, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/AGPS, Proximity sensor, G-sensor, Motion sensor, Light sensor, and Accelerometer. The Pioneer P5L also comes with various pre-loaded apps such as Child Mode, Gionee Xender, Whatsapp, Facebook, Battery Doctor, Snapdeal, WPS office, 360 Security lite, Clean master, Hungama, and TouchPal 2015. South Korean electronics giant, LG refreshed its line up in India with the new K7 and K10 smartphones which were priced at Rs 9,500 and Rs 13,500 respectively.
The LG K7 has 5 inch touchscreen, Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, 5 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera, 1.5 GB RAM, 8 GB of built in storage, 2125 mAh battery, Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, 4G connectivity, VoLTE, and VoWiFi features. It measures 142.7×72.6×8.6 mm. It comes in titan, gold and white colours.
The LG K10 has a 5.3 inch HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 13 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, 2300 mAh battery, Android Lollipop operating system, 4G connectivity, VoLTE, and VoWiFi features. It measures 144.7×73.6×8.7 mm.
Both the phones have 32 GB expandable storage slot. Their back cover has “intricate woven pattern†that said to offer good grip. The handsets also have LG’s gesture shot and gesture interval shot for hassle free selfies.
Reach Mobiles announced the launch of its third smartphone in the Indian market which is named as Reach Allure. Earlier the company had launched two smartphones called Reach Cogent and Reach Opulent.
The Reach Allure is priced at Rs 4,444 and is available for purchase exclusively at e-commerce portal Shopclues. The smartphone comes in three different colours – Silver, Golden and Pink.
The Reach Allure features a 5.5-inch qHD (540×960 pixels) 2.5D glass IPS display. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, which is paired with 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and up-to 32 GB of expandable storage via Micro SD card. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) operating system.
The smartphone sports decent 10-megapicxel rear snapper with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The camera has various features like Touch Focus, Panaroma, Geo tagging, Image Stabilization, HDR, Face Lock, Multi Angle, and Smile Detection. Penta T-Pad WS1001Q
Pantel Technologies brought a 2-in-1 tablet cum laptop called Penta T-Pad WS1001Q this week which is exclusively available on Shopclues for Rs 10,999.
The Penta T-Pad WS1001Q is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Intel Atom X5-Z8300 processor which is coupled with 2GB of RAM and Windows 10 operating system. The tablet features an 10.1-inch IPS display (800 x 1280 pixels) resolution.
The Penta T-Pad WS1001Q comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage that is further expandable via a micro SD card (up to 256GB). It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The WS1001Q is backed by a 7000 mAh battery.

Gionee P5 Mini, which was announced last month in the Nigerian market, is now available in India at Rs 5,349. Though Gionee has not announced its launch, we found it listed on the website of Gionee India. The smartphone comes in six different colours – Red, White, Black, Blue, Yellow, and Gold.
The Gionee P5 Mini features a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) FWVGA IPS Oncell display with Asahi protection. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, which is clubbed with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and up-to 128GB of expandable storage via a micro SD card. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with Amigo 3.1 UI on to of it.
