Sony has formally unveiled the new Xperia Tablet S at the IFA Berlin convention. The new Sony Xperia Tablet S is the perfect iteration of the original Sony Tablet S that was released last year.
The Sony Xperia Tablet will be available at a price starting $399 (Rs 22,000) from September onwards.
Sony has revised the design of the Tablet S and introduced an entirely new Xperia Tablet S with slimmer profile. This tablet will feature the new 9.4-inch IPS OptiContrast display with 1280×800 pixel native resolution. Under the 8.8 mm slim chasis, this tablet packs a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor with GeForce Graphics chip.
By default, it will run Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update with slew of Sony designed apps and features.
Sony has added new Socialife app that basically collates and organises your social network updates in one place. The Small Apps feature will let you open some of the native apps on top of others. Sony has also added its proprietary WALKMAN software that will promise fantastic music experience with the ClearAudio+ technology for crisper and clear sound output.
The tablet can also be converted into a Universal Remote with new Macro function that allows saving a sequence of commands to save time.
The Xperia Tablet S will also be PlayStation certified for the users to enjoy the dedicated PlayStation Mobile games with on-screen controls from the PlayStation Store. At the back lies an 8 megapixel camera for greater imaging while in the front lies a 1 megapixel camera for video calls or chat.
For greater music output, Sony has placed Stereo Speakers and also offered headphone out on the side.
Sony Xperia Tablet S will be available in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB on-board storage options with memory card slot for expansion of storage. Besides that, the Xperia Tablet will be offered in WiFi only and WiFi+3G models.
Sony has packed a 6000 mAh battery in the Xperia Tablet and promises about 10 hours of Internet Browsing with that.
Sony Xperia Tablet S will be made available as early as next month.
