Sony to launch light weight external batteries for smartphones

Sony is planning to launch a range of external batteries ranging from 2000 mAh to 7000 mAH in the price range of $30 (Rs 1,500) to $90 (Rs 4,500).

Sony has announced that it will launch a line of lightweight, elegant external batteries, called CycleEnergy. These batteries can be connected to a smartphone or a tablet through an USB port and will help the devices to have long battery life.

The range, the first to use Laminate technology of Sony that saves on weight and materials and reduces size, will include a 7,000 mAh capacity battery that measures 130.6 millimeters x 70.4mm x 12.9mm and weighs a mere 198 grams. This is roughly the same size as an average smartphone and three times the battery life of a normal smartphone.
