irtel has launched a new service, named SMS Gyan, which allows customers to conduct a search on any topic of interest by sending a keyword as SMS to 55444.
Upon sending an SMS query, Airtel mobile customers will instantaneously receive an SMS response with information on their topic of interest, which can vary to anything from general knowledge, lyrics of songs, meaning of a word, movie reviews, stock related info and weather.
There are certain shortcuts also to get more precise search results, for dictionary: type DICT
Similarly for weather, type WEATHER
These SMS responses are automatically extracted from the relevant and credible online data sources. The service is currently available the country.
Users will be charged Rs 1 per query or a monthly subscription of Rs 30 for unlimited number of queries.
