The Galaxy Gear S3 comes in two variants- A rugged designed 'Frontier' and elegantly designed 'Classic' model.
The Gear S3 signature rotating bezel has been enhanced with new features. The user can accept or reject a call or snooze an alarm without touching the screen. Moreover, messages can be scrawled by finger on the screen to automatically convert it to texts.
The Gear S3 sports a 1.3 inch Circular Super AMOLED the with 360 x 360 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ for protection. It is the first time on the Gear series, the Gear S3 features Corning Gorilla Glass SR+. Moreover, the smartwatch comes with Full colour Always On Display (AOD), which means it always shows the time rather than automatically fading to black. The case of the watch boast a high end watch grade steel 316L. The new smartwatch is powered by 1GHz Dual-Core processor paired with 768MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. The Gear S3 runs on Tizen based wearable platform 2.3.2 and has a 380mAh Li-ion battery, which claims to last up to four days on a single charge. The watch also supports wireless charging. The Galaxy Gear S3 is water resistant (IP68 certified) and above that Frontier variant also offers military-level durability (Military Standard MIL-STD-810G). The Galaxy Gear S3 has built-in GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC support and WiFi. In addition to this, the Frontier variant also has its own 3G/LTE chip for mobile payments anywhere through Samsung Pay and LTE connectivity. Regarding the sensors, it has Accelerometer, Gyro, Barometer, HRM, and Ambient light. The Gear S3 frontier measures 46 x 49 x 12.9 and weighs 62 grams (without band), where as Gear S3 classic model measures 46 x 49 x 12.9 and weighs 57 grams (without band).
Additionally, a variety of customizable watch faces will be available for download and some select apps and watch faces will be available for download directly on the Gear S3 rather than first downloading it on your smartphone.
