Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 vs Book2 Pro 360: What has changed?

Samsung has debuted its latest Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 but is the laptop a major upgrade over its predecessor or an incremental one?

Samsung unveiled its latest top-grade laptops in an event yesterday, including the Galaxy Book3 Pro, Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 and the Galaxy Book3 Ultra. Today, we are here to compare the Book3 Pro 360 with last year’s Book2 Pro 360 model to check whether the successor is just an incremental upgrade or a major one.

Both the laptops share a similar design concept, where they have a hinge that can turn 360-degrees. The laptops have a touchscreen so you can use it as a tablet whenever you want to. Now, while the Book2 Pro 360 came in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch sizes, Book3 Pro 360 comes in a single 16-inch model.

The two models for last year’s version of the laptop had a full-HD+ (1,920×1080 pixels) touchscreen display which have a brightness of up to 500 nits. As for the Book3 360 Pro, it has a 3K (2880 x 1800 pixels) AMOLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, and a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Now this is a major upgrade when it comes to display because not only it is a bigger panel, but it also considerably bumps up the resolution for a sharper and more clear image. Furthermore, the display also has 120Hz compared to standard 60Hz on last year’s model which will make everything feel smoother. The only feature identical to Book2 Pro 360 is the brightness value. Overall, Samsung has upgraded the display in all the major ways possible.

Let’s talk about the power now. The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 came with 12th Gen Intel Core i7 and Core i5 processors, paired with up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM. In addition, the laptop featured up to 1TB NVMe SSD storage. In comparison, this year’s model comes with faster and more powerful 13th Gen Intel Core i5-1340P or a Core i7-1360P processor, with up to 32GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. Both of them come with Intel’s Iris Xe integrated graphics.

This means that you get an overall upgraded performance experience with a more powerful processor. The 13th Gen Intel processors are said to provide a significant improvement over last year’s iteration and we feel Samsung didn’t hold back in providing upgrades in this department as well.

As for batteries, 13.3-inch model of the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 is backed by a 63Wh battery, while the 15.6-inch model comes with a 68Wh battery. Both the models support for 65W charging over a port. This year’s Book3 Pro 360 has an even bigger 76Wh battery with the same 65W power brick. However, considering upgraded display specifications, we assume the battery backup should remain similar if not better or worse. For exact comparisons, we would have to test it under real-life scenarios.

Further, for audio, Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 has dual stereo speakers with Doby Atmos and runs Windows 11. Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 gets a quad speaker setup that should deliver louder and overall improved audio quality. It also runs on Windows 11 out of the box.

Connectivity options have also changed in Book3 Pro 360 where you now get 2 x USB-C with Thunderbolt 4 ports instead of 1 on Book2 Pro 360. One of the USB-C ports on Book3 Pro 360 has replaced a USB 3.2 Type-A port which you used to get on last year’s model wherein you got a total of two Type-A ports. Another major change is that you now get optional support on Book3 Pro 360 which was lacking on Book2 Pro 360.

This was it for our comparison of the two convertible laptops from Samsung. We feel that the Book3 Pro 360 is a major upgrade over its predecessor in all the important aspects. It has more power, better display, bigger battery, 5G support, better audio quality and much more.
