Samsung confirms Bixby voice assistant, sucessor of S Voice

Recent leaks have revealed a dedicated button for Bixby and seem like the South Korean giant has confirmed it itself on its official Italian website.

We are quite aware that Samsung will unveil its upcoming Galaxy S8 on March 29 at its Unpacked event in New York. Further, we also know that the new Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus might come with a built-in AI-powered voice assistant from Samsung. If you haven’t been in the rumourworld for long, Samsung is expected to bring its own voice personal assistant named ‘Bixby’. Recent leaks have revealed a dedicated button for Bixby and seem like the South Korean giant has confirmed it itself on its official Italian website.

The privacy section of the website now reads “In addition, you can control all operations with the touch interface using with Bixby.” (Translated from Italian) which undeniably confirms the presence of the AI-powered voice assistant in Samsung future smartphones. Note that the privacy statement includes both mobile phones and wearables so don’t be surprised if we see Bixby making its way to the next lineup of Gear smartwatches.

Bixby is probably the successor to Samsung’s S Voice which didn’t do well over time. On the other hand, with Bixby, Samsung is surely looking to counter Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant. However, what’s even more interesting is the fact that the Galaxy S8 will also come with Google Assistant, perhaps, which will then spice up the competition as users will have access to both Bixby and Google Assistant. On the upside, Bixby will be integrated deeply into the while Google Assistant will work just like on any other device.

Meanwhile, in other news, a new report suggests that the pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 will kick-off from April 7, at least in South Korea. Whereas the device is still tipped to release on April 21st. Further, another report now confirms that the Canadian release date is also scheduled for April 21st. On the other hand, US release date was earlier reported have pushed back to April 28th. Sadly, we have no information about the India release date, as of now but we hope Samsung does it sooner than later.
