Jump Games, a publisher of mobile entertainment apps and a part of Reliance Entertainment, has launched an app for iOS and Android devices. The game – Real Steel – is based on the upcoming action film from DreamWorks Pictures carrying the same name. The movie “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman and is directed by Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum” franchise).
“Real Steel” is a gritty, white-knuckle action ride about a former boxer (Hugh Jackman) who, against all odds, gets one last shot at a comeback when he teams up with his estranged son (Dakota Goyo) to build and train the perfect contender for the new high-tech sport of robot boxing.
The game, named ‘Real Steel,’ is an Underworld fighting game set in the near future where 2,000-pound robots fight each other with no rules or regulations. There are eight heavy-duty robots to choose from in the game and each robot has unique fighting styles and signature moves giving the player a chance to choose his preferred robot. The player can use a mix of standard boxing moves, jabs, crosses, hooks, uppercuts, and some specific Underworld moves, such as low blows, knees to stomach, etc. in the fight.
With three difficulty levels – Easy, Medium, and Hard, the game will allow the player to gain experience and gear up for more difficult fights. With every win, the player will receive upgrade tokens, which can be used to upgrade the robots’ characteristics making him stronger. There are various venues where the fights take place – Parking Lot, Zoo, Saloon and Crash Palace.
The game features two play modes – Tournament Mode and Free Sparring Mode. The primary objective of the game is to defeat the robot, Midas, in Tournament Mode to unlock all eight robots. The user has only four robots to select from initially. The rest are locked. Once the player has reached the Crash Palace and defeated Midas in Tournament Mode he will then have access to all eight robots in Free Sparring Mode. In this mode, he will be able to select any robot to fight as, any robot to fight against, any arena to fight in and any difficulty level.
Speaking on the launch of the game, Rohit Sharma, chief executive officer, Reliance Entertainment (Digital business) said, “Jump Games is thrilled to launch the official game for 2011’s most awaited Hollywood action movie Real Steel. It is a well crafted and layered game which will give the players a unique gameplay experience with high quality graphics. Action based movies lend themselves easily into games with engaging gameplay and Real Steel does exactly that with its futuristic action packed story. In our endevour to create world class content we developed some of the top games for the App store globally and we are looking at tapping that market aggressively.”
The game can be downloaded from Android Market or from the Apple App Store.
