Can you believe it! One operator in India has sent out 53 million spam SMSes to their customers in 2017. The findings were revealed in the ‘Year in Calling’ report by Truecaller a call identification app.
When The Mobile Indian contacted Truecaller to get clarity on the finding, the spokesperson refused to identify the operator but said most of the SMSes were about getting a new connection, changing operator and so on.
The report further highlights that Telco category happens to be some of the biggest spammers in India and even a person who has procured a new sim card is plagued with spam SMS messages from the operator.
The data for the report was aggregated anonymously from incoming and outgoing calls during the period of January 1st, 2017 to October 31, 2017, and for messages data was anonymously aggregated from incoming and outgoing messages from April 1, 2017, to October 31.
