HMD Global was all set to launch Nokia X5 on July 11 but the launch event was cancelled by the company at the last moment. Now the company has confirmed that the Nokia X5 will be launched in China on July 18. The event will take place at 2 PM local China time which is 11:30 AM IST.
As per a Weibo (Chinese microblogging website) post by the company, the Nokia X5 aka Nokia 5.1 Plus will now launch on 18th of July. It will be the second phone with a notched display from HMD Global after Nokia X6.
Earlier the company did not exactly reveal the reason behind the cancellation of Nokia X5 but as per their post on Weibo, it can be said that the launch event has been delayed due to the issues related to the venue of the event.
Nokia X5 will be launched globally as Nokia 5.1 Plus later just like Nokia X6 that will be launched globally as Nokia 6.1 Plus. As per recent renders, Nokia X5 will sport a notched display on the front and it will come with 19:9 aspect ratio. There will be thin bezels on the side and a chin with the Nokia branding. On the rear, the Nokia X5 features a dual camera setup which is vertically aligned with LED flash below it and a fingerprint sensor located in the center.
As far as the variants are concerned, Nokia X5 will come in two variants – 32GB and 64GB priced at 799 Yuan which is approximately Rs 8,290 and 999 Yuan which is approximately Rs 10,360 respectively. The earlier leaked poster confirmed the notched design display in the smartphone.
As per earlier reports, the Nokia X5 will feature a 5.86-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor. The Nokia 5.1 Plus or X5 will be available in different memory configurations including 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage option, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage and a 6GB of RAM with 64GB storage. The memory can be further expanded up to 128GB via micro SD card slot.
On the camera front, there is a dual-camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary and a secondary lens, which might be used to bokeh effect. For the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera for video calling and selfies. The phone is backed by a 3000mAh battery and on the connectivity front, it supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, GPS and dual-SIM. The phone measures 149.51 x 71.98 x 8mm and weighs 160 grams.
