Nokia 5, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 6, Nokia 1 and more to soon get Android Pie update

The company has revealed the timeline of the update schedule for Nokia-branded smartphones.

HMD Global has revealed the roadmap of Android Pie update for its older Nokia smartphones. The company has revealed the timeline of the update schedule for Nokia-branded smartphones.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global, has confirmed the news on his official Twitter account. “Revealing our Android Pie update roadmap! We were the fastest in deploying Android Oreo 8.0 and 8.1 portfolios wide, with Android Pie we are committed to be even faster. You can also take a peek into the kitchen here,” he tweeted.

The tweet also reveals the roadmap of the older Nokia smartphones. To begin with, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.1 Plus will get Android 9.0 Pie update in January 2019. The company has revealed that Nokia 6, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1 will get the latest Android Pie update in Q1 of 2019. Lastly, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 1 will get Pie update in Q2 of 2019. Interestingly, Nokia 2, which was launched in 2017, is missing from the list of Nokia smartphones.

HMD Global has already rolled out Android 9.0 Pie update for its newer Nokia smartphones. The list includes Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 5.1 Plus. The company is currently rolling out Android Pie update to Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco handsets. Post getting Pie update, Nokia users will be able to use features like gesture-based system navigation, App Actions and Slices, Digital Wellbeing, Adaptive Battery, and Adaptive Brightness. Users can check for the latest update by going to Settings > System > System Updates.
