Nikon has today announced the launch of a new lens for the Indian market, which is meant for its Z-series of cameras. The company has introduced NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S lens in the country.

The lens is the part of S-Line lenses and it is quite compact to carry. Through this lens, one can shoot landscape and cityscape photography as it covers a dynamic ultra-wide angle of 14mm to a wide angle of 30mm. The lens is the world's first FX-format lens to support direct filter attachment despite starting at a 14 mm focal length. This allows users to use different filters such as polarising filters and neutral density filters, which cannot be used with conventional ultra-wide-angle lenses.

The lens comes loaded with four Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements and four aspherical lens elements. It packs a total of 14 elements in 9 groups for superior optical performance. The full potential of high-pixel-count digital cameras such as the Z7 with its  45.7 effective megapixels. The lens allows the same maximum f/4 aperture throughout the zoom range.

The lens boasts superior performance and agility but within a compact and lightweight body thanks to its retractable mechanism,” said Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director, Nikon India.
