NewsHunt: One stop solution to your news hunger

NewsHunt is the perfect app for people who are hungry for news. The application supports 9 languages, provides access to more than 30 newspapers, and is supported on over 1,500 mobile handset models.

Eterno Infotech launched an application called NewsHunt some time ago. This is a free application that allows mobile users to read newspapers on their handsets.

Over 30 leading Indian newspapers can be accessed through this app, including the Indian Express, Dainik Bhaskar, Dainik Jagran, Divya Bhaskar, New Indian Express, Punjab Keshari, Sakal, Sandesh, Andhrajyothy, Andhraprabha, Dinamalar, Midday, Dinamani, Prajavani, Eenadu, Kannada Prabha, Loksatta, Mangalam, Manorama, Mathrubhumi, Deccan Herald, and Dainik Navajyoti.

In all, newspapers of nine languages are available in this app.

NewsHunt runs on the most popular operating systems &#151 Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone and Java.

To download the app visit the company’s website (www.newshunt.com), enter your mobile number in the ‘download’ section. After that, you will receive a message with a URL link. Visit the URL and you can download the app; or you could visit NewHunt website on your mobile. You can also SMS ‘newshunt’ to 57333 to receive the download link.

Once downloaded, this application is very simple to use. Just select the language and then the newspaper. You also get to choose the section of the paper you want to read, and can change the newspaper without having to download the app again.

The best part is that you can also read specific city editions of newspapers.

The languages supported are Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and English. The app will soon support more languages.

NewsHunt needs a data connection to access the internet. You can ask your operator to activate GPRS on your handset if you use GSM.

These days almost all operators offer unlimited data plans on 2G for Rs 99 (some offer Rs 95 plans as well). These are the best plans for this type of application.

Over all, it is a cheap alternative considering that most newspapers these days cost Rs 3 or more per day (roughly Rs 90 per month); whereas with NewsHunt you can access more than 30 newspapers. What’s more, you can use the data connection to access email, and surf the net as well.
