Netflix brings ‘Previews’ to Android and iOS apps

The video preview will show 30-second clips of the content and it will be displayed as vertical videos.

Netflix has announced that it will bring the mobile previews for TV shows and movies with Vertical Video. The video preview will show 30-second clips of the content and it will be displayed as vertical videos.

The company has confirmed that the new feature will be available on both and iOS platforms in April. To recall, the brand rolled out the same feature for the desktop and for TV back in 2016. This new feature will help users to discover more as it will be integrated into the home screen of the mobile app. There will be icons on the top, which will be similar to what we have seen on Instagram or Snapchat. Once the user taps on these icons, he/she can watch the 30-second clip.

The brand also revealed these mobile previews will be available for “many hundreds of titles,” including both originals and licensed shows which will be cropped by Netflix’s video editing team and added to the mobile apps. It also said that although just 20 percent of Netflix viewing takes place on mobile devices, more than 50 percent of all Netflix subscribers use their mobile phones and tablets to access the service each month.

Meanwhile, Netflix has also introduced a parental control for individual movies and series that will help parents and guardians to give more specific control over what children can watch on the service. The company has also revealed that they will display the maturity level rating for a series or film more prominently whenever a member hits play on a title.
