MTS reduces tariff for all local, STD and roaming calls

MTS customers can now make all local calls, STD and ISD calls (US & Canada) for just 30 paisa per minute.

MTS, the CDMA operator, has launched a new flat 30paise voice tariff plan for local, STD and roaming calls made by it pre paid users. Under the new plan all local calls (to MTS or any other network), STD calls (to MTS or any other network) and ISD calls (US & Canada) can be made for just 30 paise per minute.

Even the customers on roaming can make and receive calls at just 30 paise per minute to anywhere in the country. The offer can be availed by both new and existing MTS customers through a recharge voucher priced between Rs 50 to Rs 100.

Also, the data consumption will be charged at 30 paisa per MB which is the lowest in the industry given that most operators charge Rs 10 per MB for 2G data, and Rs 2-3 per MB for 3G data.

MTS is also offering free access to Facebook for a month through MTS Planet (MTS’s WAP portal) on entry level phones including MTS Striker C121, MTS Striker C122 and MTS Striker F121.

Leonid Musatov, chief marketing and sales officer, MTS India, “It gives me immense pleasure to announce ‘Flat 30p for everything’ for MTS customers, a first-of-its-kind proposition in India. Under this distinctive and unmatched plan, MTS will provide all services including Local, STD, Roaming and ISD calls, SMS and Data usage at flat 30 paisa.”

The new plan is truly the cheapest and given that there are not many ifs and buts attached to it, it is expected to attract a lot of customer. However, we feel this is not the feasible pricing level and is not likely to start a price war among the operators.
