Motorola One Power confirmed with Android Pie update in the next few days

Motorola has started prompting its One Power users with a message through its Motorola notifications app which states that an update to Android Pie is just days away from reality. Android 9 Pie will add gesture navigation, Dashboard, a new DND mode, Wind Down, refined notifications and Quick Settings to the One Power.

Just days after having spotted on GeekBench running Android 9 Pie, the Motorola One Power Android smartphone has been confirmed to receive an update to Google’s latest mobile very soon.

Lenovo-owned Motorola has started prompting its One Power users with a message through its Motorola notifications which states that an update to Android Pie is just days away from reality. The notification reads “You can count on us to bring the latest software to your phone. We’re happy to let you know that you’ll be able to enjoy all the features of Android 9.0 Pie on your Motorola One Power in the next few days”.

This is an interesting update from Motorola’s side since it’s lately been discerned with no regular updates for its devices. However, the One Power smartphone has only been in the market for a little over a month now and since this is an Android One device, regular updates aren’t expected to be as irregular as the ones on Moto’s own phones.

With the latest Android 9.0 Pie on the One Power, users will get new gesture-based navigation coupled with new wellness features like Dashboard, which analyses the amount of time one speed on an application. The Pie update also brings new DND mode that turns the display in greyscale, while the Wind Down mode switches on Night Light when you are going to bed. Apart from this, there are new gesture controls, a new pill-shaped icon for navigations, refined notifications and Quick Settings, vertical volume controls and new power menu among others.

To recall, the Motorola One Power features a 6.28-inch Full Max Vision display with a screen resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 coupled with an Adreno 509 GPU, 4GB of and 64GB of internal storage. The device is equipped with a dual-camera setup with a combination of a 16-megapixel primary lens and a 5-megapixel secondary lens. For the front, there is a 12-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.

This is the first smartphone from Motorola that is introduced in India with Android One programme and the device currently runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. It’s backed up by a 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charger which claims to offer 6 hours of battery life with 15 minutes of charge.
