GSMA, a group of mobile operators worldwide, has announced the launch of a mobile based authentication solution in India, called Mobile Connect. The GSMA’s Mobile Connect services are provided in India by Airtel, Aircel, Idea, Tata Teleservices, Telenor and Vodafone.
Mobile Connect uses your mobile phone number to securely authenticate you without having to remember complicated user names and passwords. So you need not to create a difficult to remember passwords or risk your privacy by opting for social network sign in option. Infact, you don’t have to create different passwords for different websites/services.
“The Mobile Connect solution enables customers to create and manage a digital universal identity via a single login. The service simply and securely authenticate users, enabling them to digitally confirm their identity and their credentials and grant safe online access to mobile and digital services,” said GSMA in a press release.
Currently, many service providers in India offering Mobile Connect sign in option including GaneshaSpeaks, Goibibo, Trupay, Twigly, Zee Digital Group and Zomato. Additionally business to business Mobile Connect services have been deployed by BuyHatke and Times Mobile Ltd, enabled by mXpresso.
How to Sign Up
1) Just click on the Mobile Connect log-in option when you see it on a website or application or sign up directly with your mobile provider when you receive an invitation via a text message, an email or from their customer care portal.
2) Once registered, simply click on the Mobile Connect logo whenever you see it as a log-in option.
3) A message will then pop up on your mobile phone. This may ask you to click a simple OK or, if the site or App requires a higher level of security, you may need to enter a personal code such as a PIN.
4) As soon as you respond to this prompt, Mobile Connect verifies you and you’re logged in to website or application.
