Microsoft has armed its Windows Phone 8.1 operating system with many features to make it a competitive and fluid mobile operating system. Now it is all set to arm it with a file manager, which is one of the most used application to be missing from the OS.
This came to light after one of the Windows Phone Admin posted a response to almost one and a half year old query on file manager at the Windows Phone platform support forum called UserVoice, stating- “In June, we will be launching a great file manager App for Windows Phone 8.1 called “Files”… just look for it in the Store then.”
Back in December last, The Mobile Indian reported about Microsoft’s plans to bring a file manager with support for SkyDrive (now, OneDrive) Cloud Storage support.
Earlier this month, Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president and manager for Microsoft Windows Phone platform, had also confirmed the arrival of the file management capability for the Windows Phone platform.
The Files app will be made available through the Windows Phone Store in the month of June. The Files app will not be bundled or packed in the Windows Phone 8.1 update. The Mobile Indian had reported about Microsoft’s plan to start the Windows Phone 8.1 update roll out for some key devices from June onwards.
